How is the name Peter perceived? Too dated? Due for a comeback? What do you think of the name Peter?

OP posts:

Good choice

MustStopSnacking28 · 01/09/2019 12:57

Lovely

Biscuitsneeded · 01/09/2019 12:55

I think it's very nice, and it's on the way back in anyway as I have met a few small Peters.

JapaneseBirdPainting · 01/09/2019 12:54

Sophronia on that issue- would 'Victoria' made you think of Victoria Climbe?

Just wondering. Because I wonder if 'Peter' is so unusual nowadays that there are connotations where Victoria there are none.

JapaneseBirdPainting · 01/09/2019 12:51

Like it. I know a 7 year old Peter andn it is unusual and cute. Cute for a baby, and then following on suitable for all ages. My friend did not like it for her DS and then came round.

Sagradafamiliar · 01/09/2019 12:28

Being French didn't put me off naming mine Peter 😂

Sophronia · 01/09/2019 11:49

It’s a lovely name. “Baby Peter” would make me think of Baby P though Sad

NanooCov · 01/09/2019 11:42

I don't know any very young ones but it was my grandad's name and is my uncle's name (he's in his sixties). Plus my c40 year old brother in law is a Peter. And I have worked/work with quite a lot of Peters on their 30s/40s.

I like it. Not too popular. Classic.

Cookit · 01/09/2019 11:22

Dislike the nickname Pete though.

Cookit · 01/09/2019 11:22

I briefly considered it a few years a go and then realised it didn’t work with surname. I like it and feel like subconsciously must have picked up on the fact that it is coming back!

LarkDescending · 01/09/2019 11:10

Lovely. Works for any age. The Peters I know range from preschoolers to pensioners.

maryannay · 01/09/2019 10:51

Doesn't Pete have the same ee sound? Confused

villamariavintrapp · 01/09/2019 10:24

I don't like it. I don't like the 'eee' sound in the middle.. though Pete is ok. And I don't like how the 'r' on the end looks visually-though that's just me 😂

daisypond · 01/09/2019 10:01

I don’t see how it’s boring. It’s very rare indeed now amongst children. I don’t know any under the age of 60. It’s a great name. And it means rock.

Fuiseog · 01/09/2019 10:00

Classic ❤️

Abstractedobstructed · 01/09/2019 09:59

I like Peter and we strongly considered it for ds2 but rejected it on the grounds that we have French relatives and "pêter" means 'to fart'. Just in case that is the case for you too!

Disfordarkchocolate · 01/09/2019 09:58

It's lovely. Strong, classic and easy to spell.

Sagradafamiliar · 01/09/2019 09:56

DS is Peter. Still love it after 15 years

Cbeebiesrehab · 01/09/2019 09:56

Nice. Be prepared to be bought a lot of Peter Rabbit merchandise!

Morado · 01/09/2019 09:26

Really boring!

ZenNudist · 01/09/2019 09:19

Classic strong underused. Good name

abitoflight · 01/09/2019 09:16

I like Peter too
I also really like Robert but obviously few others do as way down popularity list

Nonnymum · 01/09/2019 08:36

There is a Peter at my GC nursery, I think it is becoming popular again.

Haz1516 · 01/09/2019 08:34

Due for a comeback, definitely.

travellersglitch · 01/09/2019 08:33

My dad is Peter and he's nearly a pensioner.
