How is the name Peter perceived? Too dated? Due for a comeback? What do you think of the name Peter?

Love it, classic and strong

Tillygetsit · 01/09/2019 22:52

Love it.

ICouldntHelpButWonder · 01/09/2019 22:06

I like it, it's timeless. And I love Pete as a nickname.

cookieandtea · 01/09/2019 21:47

Considered it!

Peter is quite rare these days! :)

Earslaps · 01/09/2019 21:39

I really like the name but we didn't use it due to the péter (to fart) thing (I studied French) as DH is rather windy so we didn't want to tempt fate.

commanderdalgleish · 01/09/2019 21:29

*as it's

commanderdalgleish · 01/09/2019 21:29

I quite like it asked my grandad's name but the combination with my surname is extremely unfortunate....

joystir59 · 01/09/2019 21:02

Beautiful name

rededucator · 01/09/2019 20:56

Lovely name

sixtimes · 01/09/2019 20:28

I feel it's very dated & is more suited to a middle aged man rather than a baby - but I'm not into 'granny chic' names either. Each to their own.

Frith2013 · 01/09/2019 20:03

It’s such a dull name.

UrsulaPandress · 01/09/2019 19:45

What is awful about it?

sixtimes · 01/09/2019 18:42

Awful, sorry Confused

bluebellssss · 01/09/2019 18:32

Married to a Peter so I'm very biased but I think it's a timeless name!

Milkstick · 01/09/2019 18:27

It's cute! There is a character in Mad Men called Peter who's fairly entitled and annoying, but I like it. Also, like a PP I love Robert - reminds me of an old friend.

Laurie01 · 01/09/2019 17:06

The only trouble is if the 't' is not pronounced properly like how Carla says Pe'er in Corry.

Parttimewasteoftime · 01/09/2019 17:05

Love it nearly used it. Really strong name OP.

KatherineJaneway · 01/09/2019 17:05

Dated for me.

UrsulaPandress · 01/09/2019 17:04

My Dad was Peter.

I don’t know any young ones.

Great name.

Scandinaviagirl · 01/09/2019 17:02

Terrible sorry. I find it dated and not a nice sounding name

itssquidstella · 01/09/2019 16:32

@Sparklysunflower the French verb pêter (pronounced pet-ay) means 'to fart'!

Thatnovembernight · 01/09/2019 16:23

Like it - agree it’s a (currently) underused classic. Like Luke.

Sparklysunflower · 01/09/2019 16:21

I like it.

What's the problem with it in French Confused?

itssquidstella · 01/09/2019 15:04

I love it and teach a fantastic one who is late teens.
