Hi!

Is Sasha a boy's name or girl's name for you?

Can be both a short form for Alexander or Alexandra.

The spelling refers to the country of origin and not the gender!

Sascha = German

Sasha - Russian

Sacha - French

PurBal · 31/08/2019 07:24

Both

Verily1 · 31/08/2019 06:58

I prefer it as a girls name and it sounds more like a girls name but I know it’s ‘supposed’ to be a boys name.

Parsley1234 · 30/08/2019 22:09

My son is Sachin nn Sacha he’s mixed Anglo Indian and I still love it 16 years on.

Scissor · 30/08/2019 21:50

Either, similar to Alex, Lesley, Kim, Jordan, all of which in RL I know way more males.

Talkwhilstyouwalk · 30/08/2019 21:45

Russian abbreviation for Alexandra or Alexander. Could work for a boy or girl.

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 29/08/2019 21:10

Girl

mum2jakie · 29/08/2019 21:06

I've only ever heard it as a female name

Frith2013 · 29/08/2019 20:04

It’s a boy’s name but I’d spell it Sacha. As in Distell.

TarquinGyrfalcon · 29/08/2019 18:08

Sasha - girl
Sacha - boy

Lovely name

Peachbubble · 29/08/2019 17:58

Sasha - girl
Sacha - boy

TailsoftheManyPaws · 29/08/2019 17:31

Cat, girl, golden retriever, poodle, boy in that order of popularity round here.

LarkDescending · 29/08/2019 17:23

Both.

I know male & female of both Sasha and Sacha.

missmouse101 · 29/08/2019 17:15

Both and I love the name either way.

There were quite a few girl Sashas at my schools in the eighties and nineties.

Now, I also think ‘men in Russian novels’.

Slinkyreptile · 29/08/2019 17:05

There is a female character in the walking dead called Sasha. Only one I’ve ever heard of x

Roselilly36 · 29/08/2019 17:04

Boys name.

meditrina · 29/08/2019 17:02

In Russian the sh/ch/sch cluster of consonants in the middle is represented by a single letter that had no direct counterpart in the British 26-letter alphabet. So any of these spellings can be used in a transliteration, irrespective of which sex the person.

But if I heard the name, I'd definitely expect a bloke.

whattodowith · 29/08/2019 16:57

Sacha, boys name.

BendydickCuminsnatch · 29/08/2019 16:44

I went to school with a female Sasha. Seems to suit a boy too!

SoftBlocks · 29/08/2019 16:43

Boys. Sacha.

PrincessHoneysuckle · 29/08/2019 16:42

Girl

MargotsFlounceyBlouse · 29/08/2019 16:14

It's a girl's name to me.

CassianAndor · 29/08/2019 16:12

In Russia it's always been Sasha for a boy, hasn't it? And Misha for Mikhail?
