I’ve got a list of names I love but I can’t work them into a nice combination that I love for boys and girls! Have one syllable surname if that helps. Advice much appreciated!!!

Girls:

Alice
Eleanor
Camilla
Maeve
Grace
Harriet
Olivia
Amelia
Sophia
Madeleine
Orla
Rose

Boys:

Oliver
Henry
George
Teddy
Ezra
James
Dominic
Edward
Atticus
William

Would also be open to other name suggestions too- am just so stuck!

And Sophie seems to suit your taste if you're looking for alternatives.

Eleanor Alice
Dominic James

Just in case you're not aware (you might be) but Rose and Grace are very, very common middle names. About 80% of young girls have Rose, Grace or May as a middle name. That means they are exactly like Louise or Jane were in the 70s. It might not matter to you but thought I'd point it out.
I like Alice as a middle name as it's a million times more original. Alice is a beautiful first name too. Camilla Alice or Alice Camilla would be my choice, but I do tend to avoid the top 20 kind of names.

For a boy I like Atticus George; Dominic James; Henry Edward. Ezra and Teddy are very popular and will date.

Hahaha I think they’re all lovely names but can’t choose a combo- all too nice. I’d love to know what your combo is if you’re willing to say?

Just out of interest which of this names do you see as being modern and ditch-worthy any help narrowing down would be appreciated!

I am SO flattered by that comment, thank you!!! It’s so hard choosing isn’t it??

Thanks for the suggestion, I love Georgiana as well but have never even considered it before until now!

I absolutely love the names Atticus and Camilla!
Atticus George and Camilla Rose are just gorgeous.

kenandbarbie · 28/08/2019 11:14

There are loads of nice choices there. I would pick the boys and girls name you like best for first name, then choose the middle name that sounds best with each.

BendydickCuminsnatch · 28/08/2019 11:03

Well my first and middle are on your list so I’m mortally offended you don’t think it’s a nice combo 😄 what’s your surname?

Lovely lists!

Madeleine Rose
Harriet Alice

William James

I think you need more one-syllable boy name options as long first name and long middle name tend not to flow so well!

Mumoftwoyoungkids · 28/08/2019 11:02

Grace and James are both “good middle names” and work with an enormous number of name combinations in my opinion.

They are also both lovely names.

IckleBear · 28/08/2019 10:59

Camilla Rose
Dominic James

LolaSmiles · 28/08/2019 10:59

I love most of your lists and that doesn't normally happen on MN. Grin

I like:
Harriet Rose
Eleanor Grace
Ezra James
Henry Atticus

Would ditch the modern names and keep the traditional.

RebeccaRae · 28/08/2019 09:45

Harriet Maeve 😍😍😍 love that! Harriet is on my list too, and I think it goes beautifully with Maeve.

AverageMummy · 28/08/2019 08:34

I don’t think I’ve ever liked so many of someone’s list !
I think my favourite combos would be:
Madeleine Alice
Rose Eleanor

Henry James
James William
Dominic George

You may also love Georgiana

WhiteVixen · 28/08/2019 07:53

I always think it flows better if the first name and surname have a different amount of syllables.

I have a two-syllable surname, and my daughter is Amelia Grace. I’m currently expecting our second daughter, and I think she is going to be Imogen Rose.

Other names on our list are

Phoebe
Felicity
Annabelle
Isabelle/Isobel
