Pretty certain on it would just like to hear others opinions! Try not to be too brutal, just a simple 'not keen' will doGrin

I think Saskia is a very pretty name

diddlediddle · 30/08/2019 07:24

It's not a common name despite what people are saying - it's number 680 in 2018 stats and it is declining not increasing in popularity - and I like it. Go for it.

Anerak · 30/08/2019 07:23

And their professions range from pychologist to NGO staff so no hairdressers or beauticians as suggest upthread. Not that there is anything at all wrong with those jobs!

Anerak · 30/08/2019 07:19

I have lots of Dutch acquaintances called Saskia. Some very nice women. It's a good name.

neighbourhoodwitch · 30/08/2019 07:02

LOVE

devilishlygood · 30/08/2019 07:00

It was my absolute number one for years. Now I’m actually pregnant, I’ve heard it too often to be comfortable using it. I’m also afraid it has maybe gone a bit ‘glamour model-ly’ or ‘Essex bird-y’...so I’ve been put right off ☹️

Back to the drawing board....

1984isHappeningNow · 29/08/2019 20:51

I have an 8yo Saskia, and have received so many lovely comments about her name.

For me it's a name that suits all ages, it's strong and feminine.

It's unusual enough without being "out there" and every one can pronounce it.

8 years on and I still love it!

moonpiggle · 29/08/2019 20:38

Oh my fave! If i had a daughter tomorrow she would be called Saskia. Its beautiful.

Twixes · 29/08/2019 20:33

Not mad on it for the same reasons given above. I prefer Sasha but that can be a boys name in Eastern Europe as far as I n ow

mum2jakie · 29/08/2019 20:29

Beautiful name

AverageMummy · 29/08/2019 18:30

@Jsmith99 that’s exactly the vibe I hear too

AverageMummy · 29/08/2019 18:30

I don’t really like it but at 0.01% yes they seen statistically extremely likely to be the only one in a class of 30....or year group of 100....or school of 1000.....

Jellycat00 · 29/08/2019 03:14

Not my personal taste, but it's quite pretty. And i knew a lovely Saskia a long time ago so that makes the name nicer for me.

Astronica · 29/08/2019 02:59

I love it.

AlpacaGoodnight · 28/08/2019 21:24

Love it, it just sounds great when you say it!

georgialondon · 28/08/2019 21:15

@Jsmith99 you're rightGrin

Jsmith99 · 28/08/2019 21:09

Saskia is a perfectly nice name which feels a bit ‘Essex girl’ to me. She probably works as a hairdresser or beautician and dreams of marrying a footballer. Maybe she sells cosmetics in a department store. There is absolutely nothing wrong with that, of course.

aibutohavethisusername · 28/08/2019 21:02

Not keen

kenandbarbie · 28/08/2019 20:17

I like it. But I do think it sounds a bit European rather than English if that matters.

lottiegarbanzo · 28/08/2019 20:06

Really like it.

Sounds a little bit European and sophisticated to me, similar to Francesca, Anoushka, Ines, Sasha, Lucia.

Dorigen · 28/08/2019 18:42

Unusual enough for her to be the only one in her nursery / class / school

Very much doubt this. I know several.

No strong feelings about it as a name, though!

Camparisafari · 28/08/2019 18:41

Go for it! I chose it and have been supremely happy with decision. It is strong, fun, euro chic! Unusual enough for her to be the only one in her nursery / class / school. Sassy a fabulous nickname too.

zvjezdica · 28/08/2019 18:38

I love it! It was on my shortlist for DD Grin

georgialondon · 28/08/2019 17:16

Not kean!
