Artel

What do you think, as a boys name?

I can't decide if it's genius or terrible. If the latter, any similar names I might like?

Or Artur?

Antonin · 26/08/2019 15:16

What about Arctic? USA about all the other countries have given themselves to first names

EarringsandLipstick · 26/08/2019 05:44

Art isn't Irish. It's short for Arthur.

You're wrong! Art is Irish. Entirely different from Arthur and not a nn. It's an old name, with various meanings including 'bear' and 'warrior'.

diddlediddle · 25/08/2019 22:32

I will have to rule out Artel I see, much as I like telecommunications and scaffolding.

Artex is quite a cool name to my ear 😬 like a combo of Arthur and Alex! If only it was a real name 😩

Reminds me of Artex the 1980s ceiling plaster. What about Arthur, nn Art?

Pinkblueberry · 25/08/2019 13:37

Just googled it - it’s a scaffolding company. I’m sure they’ll be very honoured if you name your child after them. If you ever need scaffolding you might even get a discount Grin

Pinkblueberry · 25/08/2019 13:35

Is it a made up name?

RedCowboyBoots · 25/08/2019 13:32

Too much like Intel. Art is an Irish name in its own right, separate from Arthur.

diddlediddle · 25/08/2019 13:30

Artemis is lovely, but it's a girls name 🤷🏼‍♀️

MrMeSeeks · 25/08/2019 13:29

No, awful. Art is nice.
So it anton and arthur

EssentialHummus · 25/08/2019 13:08

What they said^. Artemis?

user1493494961 · 25/08/2019 13:07

Dreadful.

WinterHare · 25/08/2019 08:41

Awful. Really awful. Why? Is it a made up name?

It's one letter away from an Indian telecomms network.

daisypond · 25/08/2019 08:35

Anselm?

HeronLanyon · 25/08/2019 08:10

Artel does indeed sound like a telecoms company to me- then I thought ‘artex’.

diddlediddle · 25/08/2019 08:03

Not a great reception then 😂

I really like Art but worry it does sound like a nn. Arthur is ok but quite popular.

OP posts:
AverageMummy · 24/08/2019 23:35

Never heard of it

CrotchetyQuaver · 24/08/2019 23:18

It sounds like a beer.

GloriousMystery · 24/08/2019 23:12

Art is Irish. Medieval Irish texts are stuffed full of warriors called Art.

Proseccoinamug · 24/08/2019 23:05

Ardal is Welsh for ‘region’ or ‘area’

Frith2013 · 24/08/2019 23:04

How about:

Anton
Arthur
Anselm
Aelfric

Frith2013 · 24/08/2019 23:03

Sounds like a mobile phone network.

Sophronia · 24/08/2019 22:55

How about Ardal instead?

Heratnumber7 · 24/08/2019 22:34

Art isn't Irish. It's short for Arthur.
Artel is awful!

BaronessBomburst · 24/08/2019 22:33

What FrownPrincess said, that is.
