Clover

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Cute for a baby

For a 30-something professional in a job interview? Not so much

Use Clover as a nickname

Betty777 · 24/08/2019 20:33

I found my childhood diary and at 10 years old (obvs after reading "what Katy Did') I declared that when I started a new school that year I would tell ppl my name was Clover. Grin

Thankfully I did not do that. I do kinda like it OP, but it's a bit too twee

GeorgiaGirl52 · 24/08/2019 20:32

I like it. There was a movie with a girl called Daisy Clover.

thebakerwithboobs · 24/08/2019 20:29

I also like Flora but perhaps not both together!

Merename · 24/08/2019 20:28

Shite horse Grin. I love Clover. I’d be nervous about using it in case she was mocked but I think it’s a beautiful name.

thebakerwithboobs · 24/08/2019 20:28

I know a Clover with the nickname Coco. I like them both.

user1471449295 · 24/08/2019 20:26

Shite? Blush I mean Shire

RedCowboyBoots · 24/08/2019 20:26

If you’d asked me the most popular name for a cow is, I and I expect quite a few others would have mentioned Daisy and that didn’t in any way deter an awful lot of people calling their daughters that

Great point.

Also, see 'Flora' and margarine.

user1471449295 · 24/08/2019 20:26

It is a bit ridiculous to me I’m afraid. I instantly think of a shite horse for some reason

cushioncovers · 24/08/2019 20:21

Sorry no, it's a type of margarine.

joystir59 · 24/08/2019 20:17

I prefer McLover myself

joystir59 · 24/08/2019 20:16

Why don't people have more respect for their miraculous children and give them decent names. Would you want to be called effing 'Clover' OP?

joystir59 · 24/08/2019 20:15

Good name for a pet rabbit.

SheSaidNoFuckThat · 24/08/2019 20:08

Is it not a bit horsey?

millymae · 24/08/2019 20:00

The animal name connotation wouldn’t bother me. My primary school age daughter has already come across dogs, cows, rabbits and hens that have her name and it doesn’t bother her at all.
When it comes to names it’s our own individual views and prejudices that are the problem - to a child it’s just what they are called.

Lots of flower names are really popular at the moment and Clover has a nice ring to it. Quirky without being unacceptably so.
I certainly wouldn’t let Clover the cow sway me in any way. If you’d asked me the most popular name for a cow is, I and I expect quite a few others would have mentioned Daisy and that didn’t in any way deter an awful lot of people calling their daughters that

Sparklypurpleunicornsaremyfav · 24/08/2019 19:49

Cute but makes me think of Sofia the first!

Ritascornershop · 24/08/2019 19:43

I like it, but I wouldn’t use it.

Ponoka7 · 24/08/2019 19:42

Also her friends and others might call her 'Clo', which you might not like.

TraceyHorrobin · 24/08/2019 19:41

It's fine.. I could easily get used to a little girl being called Clover I'm sure.

Ponoka7 · 24/08/2019 19:41

A lot of children's fiction has either a cow or rabbit called clover in it.

I like the sound of ut, but because of the margarine, i think it would be a bit cruel to use it as a first name. She'd get the 'four leaf' joke a lot.

Fine as a middle name and for you to call her that.

BrunettesDoItBetter · 24/08/2019 19:37

Tbh I first thought of the sister from What Katy Did then I thought of the margarine.

PrincessLouis · 24/08/2019 19:31

I also love What Katy Did so it gets a maybe for that reason, but otherwise a bit dairy-ish / silly maybe?

riotlady · 24/08/2019 19:26

Cos we all love Clover, if there’s one thing we’ve learned, it’s that we all love Clover, it’s the way that it’s churned!

Goingbacktokansascity · 24/08/2019 19:18

And we allll love clover, all over the land. Sorry 😐 butter

icecreamsundae32 · 24/08/2019 19:11

@Spoonsmum isn't the rabbit is Sofia the first called clover?
