Reminds me of a bunny for some reason.. But plenty of people use the name Daisy and Daisy is often associated with names of cows ect

daisypond · 26/08/2019 06:59

I like it . It’s a Victorian name. The Victorians were the first to use or popularise flower names for girls, and Clover is one of these. I think of What Katy Did too, another Victorian book.

flumpybear · 26/08/2019 06:15

I thought cows name too but then again my eldest's name is a cats name Grin

WildCherryBlossom · 26/08/2019 06:14

I quite like it. It sounds fresh.

Astronica · 26/08/2019 05:37

Quirky but likeable name. There's a politician is Australia called Clover.

DramaAlpaca · 26/08/2019 00:18

I've always liked it, mainly because of the 'What Katy Did' association. I wouldn't use it though, I'm not quite quirky enough.

AverageAvenger · 25/08/2019 23:39

Absolutely gorgeous and cool.

georgialondon · 25/08/2019 12:35

I just think of margarine

manicmij · 25/08/2019 12:20

Can't but think of a cow when I hear the name Clover.

Oakandlove · 24/08/2019 23:11

It is not ridiculous at all. I wouldn't choose it myself simply because of the 3 hard letters in it c,v,r but if you love it, I think it is quite unusual and go with it, it is quite pretty. It does not remind me of butter/margarine - it reminds me of the small meadow flowers that the brand also took the name from.

Taylen69 · 24/08/2019 22:48

Sorry...definitely reminds me of butter, wouldnt call a baby it

MrsFiddymont · 24/08/2019 22:35

What about willow?

Cocoismydog · 24/08/2019 22:29

It’s a lovely sounding name but I automatically think of a cow. Sorry OP. Having said that, people quickly forget other associations when you use a name. Soon it would just become your DD name.

ItsGoingTibiaK · 24/08/2019 22:27

Roll me over
In the clover,
Roll me over, lay me down
And do it again

SilverySurfer · 24/08/2019 22:20

Clover the cow - not great.

HeadintheiClouds · 24/08/2019 22:19

Cow’s name.

Fours6 · 24/08/2019 22:15

Love it

funmummy48 · 24/08/2019 21:51

I think it's cute.

CampfireZen · 24/08/2019 21:51

For the record, Daisy's a great name!

CampfireZen · 24/08/2019 21:49

Clover Stroud (author/journalist)
Clover Kelly (Roald Dahl's granddaughter)

Maybe it's a writing-in-the-genes thing?
Smile

I agree with PPs: why should it be regarded as any different to Daisy etc., re being linked (in negative way) to animals?

[Traditional 'cow' names Buttercup & Marigold are probably primed for a comeback as (human) baby names any minute now, mark my words...]

Clayplease · 24/08/2019 21:43

I think it's lovely. I'm called Daisy and despite the odd joke about cows I'd definitely not want to change it.

AlexaAmbidextra · 24/08/2019 21:21

I once knew a cow called Clover. 😂

bangwhistle · 24/08/2019 21:13

There's a famous (ish) author called Clover Stroud. I don't think it's odd at all. I also don't think it would be odd on a woman of any age regardless of what occupation they go into.

Troels · 24/08/2019 21:12

I thought of a big brown cow with long eye lashes as soon as I read it.

sewinginscotland · 24/08/2019 21:00

For the first time in one of these threads, I actually like it. I can picture it as an adult name too.
