I'm absolutely in love with the name Georgia but DM thinks it's common! I've never thought of it in that way but now I'm starting to wonder if it is. Any feedback would be appreciated!

Georgina is much nicer.

SingingSands · 24/08/2019 23:20

It's a lovely name, I haven't heard it in ages.

Ponoka7 · 24/08/2019 20:05

It was, were i lived in the 80's. But it's been sidelined for other names.

I don't hear it around at all, anymore.

HollyBen · 24/08/2019 16:00

I like Georgia and love Georgiana. Not overly keen on Georgina though

BeanBag7 · 24/08/2019 15:57

If "Jorja" is Spanish wouldnt it be pronounced "hor-ha" like Jorge, not like Georgia.

I think Georgia is OK but Georgina is prettier and less common.

Tisfortired · 24/08/2019 15:55

I'm a Georgia, and almost 30. It always surprises me when I see on here it's a common name, maybe it's just where I live (NW) but I have only met a handful of other Georgia's.

georgialondon · 24/08/2019 15:54

I love Georgette and Georgeva too.

SpottyCollar · 24/08/2019 15:54

Sorry - the potential for mispronunciation will always be a burden.

SpottyCollar · 24/08/2019 15:53

Georgina’s nice but reminds me of soggy puddings for some reason. I like Georgiana but the spelling

HeronLanyon · 24/08/2019 15:53

I think Georgia is either posh or common. Really dépendant on context. Unusual for a name to be capable of both I think !

georgialondon · 24/08/2019 15:52

No. Much prefer it to Georgina which sounds kind of 1980s to me.

SpottyCollar · 24/08/2019 15:51

Thinking about it, the only Georgia’s I have have ever known have been decidedly ‘posh’ but if there’s a Love Island connection now I guess it might fall down the demographic ladder over the next few years 😂

Grufallosfriends · 24/08/2019 15:50

I much much prefer Georgina.

SpottyCollar · 24/08/2019 15:46

It’s a lovely, sensuous and classic name that spans all social classes. It’s always been quite old money to me but that’s probably due to the type of Georgia that I knew while at school and uni. If it’s ‘common’ now it’s probably because it’s a great name! If you like it do it.

SmiledWithTheRisingSun · 24/08/2019 15:44

Love it. Not common. Sounds much nicer than Georgina too imo.

pilotedgrey · 24/08/2019 15:42

I wouldn’t say common but not my cup of tea

Moominfan · 24/08/2019 15:41

It's popular because it's a lovely timeless name

Figgygal · 24/08/2019 15:41

Chavvy or popular?

If I'd had a girl i wanted George as a nickname so would have been Georgia or similar
Love it but don't know any

Youhavewonaprize · 24/08/2019 15:40

Love Georgia. Not a fan of Georgiana as it’s one of those ones that no one knows how to pronounce properly (geor-Jane—ah rather than geor-gi-ah-nah) and will cause a lifetime of spelling/pronunciation issues

Greenmarmalade · 24/08/2019 15:39

Beautiful name. Classic.

Pieceofpurplesky · 24/08/2019 15:37

Georgia is lovely but Georgiana is fabulous

NoSauce · 24/08/2019 15:35

Common as in popular or down market?

Shadow1234 · 24/08/2019 14:41

I think it's a lovely name. Don't think it's common or chavvy.

Peachbubble · 24/08/2019 14:17

Lovely name, definitely not common

AdelaideK · 24/08/2019 13:51

It's quite popular but I like it.
