Expecting DS imminently.

Have a DD with a traditional ‘old ladies name’ (think Florence, Edith, Evelyn, Lilian-it’s along these lines)

I really like the name Franco for DS but worried it doesn’t ‘go’ with DD name-also he is likely to be blonde and fair with a fairly traditional English surname. Does this matter? Also considering Franklin and just using Franco as a nickname.

Yes, Franco would be really strange for a blonde, white child with a traditional English surname.

Given the negative connotations I don't know why you'd use it as a nn either tbh. Frank or Frankie is cute.

Franklin is really nice, my friend's daughter named her son Franklin and he's Frankie or Frank for short; Franco would be a good nickname for Franklin too.

General Franco for sure! Why don’t you just call him Frank? (Pretty sure it will end up as Frank anyway).

I didn't think of Franco the dictator but of the actor Francos, not a great association because of the sex abuse allegations, but that will probably not matter in the future as they get less famous. Franklin is ok but I prefer Francis or Frank.

I think Franklin nn Franco is best. A lot of people will think of the actor James Franco (of dubious behaviour towards women infamy) and a lot more will think of General Franco, who is even more questionable as a namesake.

Yes, General Franco here. It will go with the 'old lady' name eventually as I expect it will get shortened to Frank.

I love love love the name Franco. There was a Steelers player with the first name Franco and we watched a lot of NFL documentaries when I was pregnant. Had a girl though.

One of my gripes is the lack of knowledge about history younger people have etc so I doubt many non Spanish people will associate the name with the dictator.
I think Franco is a diminutive of Francesco and is still popular in Spanish speaking countries, anyway. What about Franco Nero?
Your children’s names don’t necessarily have to match so you don’t need to worry about that.
Go for either Franco or Franklin nn Franco. I dislike plain Frank and much prefer the alternatives
