I’d go with the suggestion of Katherine, and call her Katniss as a pet name. Or Katrina, Katharina.

When I read The Hunger Games I always thought I quite liked the name Katniss.

Call her Katherine and Kat for short. You can then call her “Little Miss Katniss” when she is teeny but stop and let her be Katherine / Kat /Kate when she goes to school....
