I know a couple of Coco’s, it’s their full name. I have to say I find it a fairly ridiculous name

daisypond · 25/08/2019 18:02

Coco is the most popular name in the UK for a brown dog. Surely that would be Cocoa. Cocoa and coco(nut) are very different.

WildCherryBlossom · 25/08/2019 17:40

I know 3. Two of them are just Coco and one is a nickname (actual name entirely unrelated).

I really like it and think it's perfectly acceptable on its own, for high court judges etc etc.

SushiForBreakfast · 25/08/2019 16:47

I love it!

Aurea · 25/08/2019 16:43

Coco is the most popular name in the UK for a brown dog. Maybe not relevant?

Fraggling · 25/08/2019 16:33

Coco i know is nichole.

Fraggling · 25/08/2019 16:32

Couple of pointlessly rude posts on here!

Makes me think of fame, we all wanted to be coco, so on that basis, why not.

Angelf1sh · 25/08/2019 16:29

High Court Judges (and indeed all Judges except Judy) are known by their surnames, so your point is as irrelevant as it is rude Joy.

joystir59 · 25/08/2019 14:50

Absolutely bloody awful. Imagine her becoming a high court judge with a name like that. It ok if you plan for her to prostitute herself or work in a lap dancing bar

Emily312 · 24/08/2019 11:59

@Kublai I'm a vet nurse and I've met loads of dogs called coco so .... speaking from experience haha :)

Carbis · 24/08/2019 11:02

I work with a Coco, that’s her given name, not a nickname. She is lovely and I think it’s a great name.

RushianDisney · 24/08/2019 10:50

Odd to just want suggestions of any old name so you can have Coco as a nickname. To me that's not what a nickname is, that's just an abbreviation. I'd avoid Coco as a given name, it's incredibly naff.

Kublai · 24/08/2019 10:42

@Emily312 Coco is definitely a cats name not so good on a dog.

AverageMummy · 24/08/2019 10:32

Nicolette

AverageMummy · 24/08/2019 10:24

Actually Indigo could work!

crankyhousewife · 24/08/2019 08:31

My cat's called Coco.

DurhamDurham · 24/08/2019 08:29

The only Coco I know, as there aren't many, is Corrine.

XXcstatic · 24/08/2019 08:16

Fast forward and my now adult cousin just should have been Coco. She suits the name so much more (she went in to performing arts and works in the theatre)

Great, but what if she had become a high court judge or a police officer? If you have a multi-purpose name, you can choose a NN that suits your personality/profession, and change it at will if your lifestyle changes. If you have a cutesy actual name like Coco or Daisy, you are stuck with it unless you want to go through the hassle of a legal name-change.

AverageMummy · 24/08/2019 08:03

Cadence
Cora
Chloe
Clover
Cecilia
Cleone

hazandduck · 24/08/2019 08:00

To counter the ‘think of the child’ argument, my auntie wanted to name her daughter Coco but was so mocked she went for a very normal name. Fast forward and my now adult cousin just should have been Coco. She suits the name so much more (she went in to performing arts and works in the theatre). My auntie regrets her name so much! So I sometimes think if you love a name then go for it.

XXcstatic · 24/08/2019 07:32

Totally agree with you @OkPedro, but we are lone voices on here. I hardly ever see anyone wondering if their child will like the name. They don't seem to be able to imagine the baby as an older child, let alone an adult. It's all about being a cool mum and the name sounding cute for a baby. Then the poor kids go to school and have the mick taken out of them or if they're unlucky - the shit kicked out of them - followed by a lifetime of embarrassment, introducing themselves.

(Not having a go at the OP btw - nothing wrong with Coco as NN as long as it's not the only name)

Angelf1sh · 24/08/2019 07:22

I know a Keira called Coco.

Coco Chanel was called Gabrielle (sorry if someone has already said that, I haven’t rtft!)

Apolloanddaphne · 24/08/2019 07:19

I know a Colin who is known as Coco.

BertieBotts · 24/08/2019 06:06

Boy or girl? I know a Coen who goes by Coco.

katesalwayslate · 24/08/2019 05:58

I love coco!!! What about Colette, Corinne, Coral, Cora?
