Is this name really that bad

I’m vvv fussy w names.
First baby, a little girl. Due 16th September!
And the only name I adore, always have is Everly!
Everly Violet / Everly Rose / Everly Hope / Everly Lyla
Are all in the running, with Rose as mn being my favourite.
I think it’s so pretty, unusual but not ridiculous, or pretentious.
I like Ever or Ev as nn.
DP loves it too, as do the 2 friends I’ve told. Not gonna tell my mam and nan until she’s born as they are... v opinionated :)
So, did a quick google search of ‘Everly mumsnet’ and ummm, it seems 9/10 MNers hate it - despise it with passion in fact!
I am aware it is Beverly without B, Everly brothers etc... but is it rlly that bad?
And if it truly is horrific, any other suggestions?
I don’t like Evelyn. Prefer modern, unique names.
TIA

Everly Lyla is the only terrible bit.

Jessbow · 23/08/2019 22:14

EVerley Layla is a bit of a mouthful, the rest are okay

user27495824 · 23/08/2019 22:13

I quite like it. And I've never heard of the Everly brothers. Rose is the modern day Louise as middle name, but it does indeed go with every single girls name in existence Grin.

QualCheckBot · 23/08/2019 22:12

Its lovely. And if she doesn't like it, she can be Eve. But its a lovely name and not too common.

SierraNevada · 23/08/2019 22:10

The only name I adore, always have is Everly. DP loves it too

I think these are reasons enough. For every name you put forward some will love it, some will hate it, some will thinks it’s ok. You aren’t saddling her with something heinous on the lines of Bumblebee Bleu Beauregard Smith so imo you should go for it.

Viebienremplie · 23/08/2019 22:07

If you really like it and so does your DH, then no one else's opinion really matters does it. Have the courage of your conviction.

It's unusual (I'd never heard of it before now) and it's not a rude word in another language so I can't really see any harm in it.

MrsElijahMikaelson1 · 23/08/2019 22:05

Awful-looks and sounds made up and the NN are worse!

How about Avery if you like that type of sound

nelliethelesbian · 23/08/2019 22:04

It's fine, I like but don't love it. You do though, which is what counts. More than likely she'll become one of several Evies in her class though. Are you ok with that?

Solonelywastheballard · 23/08/2019 22:04

Why care what everyone else thinks. If everyone followed the crowd we'd live in a bland fucking world.

CoffeeRunner · 23/08/2019 22:04

It’s not a name I would choose myself but that doesn’t matter.

It isn’t a “terrible” name by a long way.

You love it. DP loves it. Therefore you should definitely use it.

Allthebubbles · 23/08/2019 22:03

I know a beautiful Everly, I think it is a lovely name and more to the point as people get to know your baby the name will be associated with her and they will love it too.

AlpacaGoodnight · 23/08/2019 22:03

I like it! Don't change your mind because of random opinions! My eldest had a mumsnet hated name when she was born 6 years ago and it'a now a name mumsnet seems to love, my youngest has a mumsnet hated name too so it will be interesting to see if that changes in a few years. My mam is the same as yours, surprising despite hating most names on the planet she lives the ones we chose. I still love them too and I'm glad I didn't listen to the internet!

Shadow1234 · 23/08/2019 22:02

Lovely name.

you can't please everyone, but as long as you like it, that's all that matters.

Honeyroar · 23/08/2019 22:01

I'm 50/50. It's not bad, but it will make everyone think you're an Everley brothers fan, and it may get pronounced as Heavily in some northern accents, but it's ok.

riotlady · 23/08/2019 21:59

I like it but then I’m probably biased as my daughters name is similar!

Sux2buthen · 23/08/2019 21:59

Hmmat 'truly horrific'
No, violent crime is truly horrific. A perfectly normal name is just normal.
And I think it's nice. Not offensive in the slightest

mathanxiety · 23/08/2019 21:59

It's truly that bad, and it's not at all unusual. It's a placeholder name for people who want to call their daughter Evie but can't bring themselves to put the NN on the birth cert.

TheFrendo · 23/08/2019 21:59

Everly little thing she does is magic.

etc.

FurrySlipperBoots · 23/08/2019 21:58

It's fine.

womaninthedark · 23/08/2019 21:58

Bloody hell.

Growtheduckupp · 23/08/2019 21:58

Ev Ever
Sorry these did make me chuckle. They’re shite nicknames

TokenGinger · 23/08/2019 21:57

I think it's lovely.

tabbiemoo · 23/08/2019 21:57

They spell it Everly, and her name is Everly Hope.

actuallyquitesmall · 23/08/2019 21:56

Trouble is, I sense a lifetime of having to explain to people how to spell it.

MoaningMinnie1 · 23/08/2019 21:56

Sounds like half of a pair of old brothers who sing country and western. What would you call her for short? Ever? Very?

Verity is nice. Means 'truth'.
