Is this name really that bad

I’m vvv fussy w names.
First baby, a little girl. Due 16th September!
And the only name I adore, always have is Everly!
Everly Violet / Everly Rose / Everly Hope / Everly Lyla
Are all in the running, with Rose as mn being my favourite.
I think it’s so pretty, unusual but not ridiculous, or pretentious.
I like Ever or Ev as nn.
DP loves it too, as do the 2 friends I’ve told. Not gonna tell my mam and nan until she’s born as they are... v opinionated :)
So, did a quick google search of ‘Everly mumsnet’ and ummm, it seems 9/10 MNers hate it - despise it with passion in fact!
I am aware it is Beverly without B, Everly brothers etc... but is it rlly that bad?
And if it truly is horrific, any other suggestions?
I don’t like Evelyn. Prefer modern, unique names.
TIA

Yes, Everly is fairly dreadful.

ThePolishWombat · 24/08/2019 15:30

I personally wouldn’t choose it, but I don’t dislike it Smile

I’m also due with Number 3 around the same time as you, and the name we’ve chosen is a universally hated one on Mumsnet Grin

Marlena1 · 24/08/2019 15:28

Mumsnet hates both my DDs names. I get why but we love them. I think it's about what you and your DP like (as long as goes with surname and it doesnt make them a bullying target!).

BigusBumus · 24/08/2019 15:23

Everly is an ugly name. And Rose is so unnorginal as a middle name. I don't get why everyone gives the same middle name be it Rose/ Grace/ Mae.

I was born in 1971 and my middle name is Louise like 99.9% of all girls born in the 70s

thetwinkles · 24/08/2019 15:23

It's a lovely name with that spelling.

There is a more American way everleigh which I'm not keen on. The eldest child of those awful LaBrant family is called everleigh I think. It's not the name I don't like just that spelling Grin

PristineCondition · 24/08/2019 15:12

I know an 18 yr old Ever. Suits her

Sophronia · 24/08/2019 15:06

It’s very trendy.

HeronLanyon · 24/08/2019 14:54

Yes it is - very. My view only obvs. If you like it then use it. I find it really ugly.
Good luck op.

ommmward · 24/08/2019 14:49

Another vote for Eva Leigh or Ava Leigh. Those are classy, timeless names. Everly not so much.

chocpop · 24/08/2019 14:45

I'd never heard of it before seeing it on mumsnet but I think the name is fine. Regardless, just go with what you and DP like. She's your daughter and a strangers' opinion shouldn't affect your choice 😊

lucylouis · 24/08/2019 14:42

I like it but it's so so popular now

liinnnua · 24/08/2019 14:41

Thanks all

Channing Tatum has an Everly - no idea if this makes it more appealing or more off-putting

PinkOboe · 24/08/2019 13:11

Everleigh is a village in Wiltshire

rainbowstardrops · 24/08/2019 09:59

I think it sounds lovely! You and your DH love it, so go for it!
You will never find a name that everybody loves and I bet you wouldn't like some of the names that posters on here who have said they dislike it have chosen. Such is life!
It's pretty Smile

thebakerwithboobs · 24/08/2019 09:49

Inoffensive enough. Not my taste, but not my baby! Does remind me of the word Heavily I must admit but that's as bad as it gets!

allthegoodusernameshavegone · 24/08/2019 09:35

Everly is lovely, doesn’t need a middle name

20viona · 24/08/2019 09:33

Like it

daisypond · 24/08/2019 09:31

How about Rose Everly? Rose is super as a first name. Everly is just a bit downmarket.

MotherOfSoupDragons · 24/08/2019 09:14

Awful. Elodie

Yabbers · 24/08/2019 09:07

And Rose as a middle name is SO tired. Have a bit of originality.

Jesus, is it really necessary to be such a bitch about it?

TildaTurnip · 24/08/2019 08:08

I actually don’t mind it and think it sounds nice
BUT
it is too similar to heavily and that alone makes it unusable imo

lanbro · 24/08/2019 08:03

I like it, my best friend has one...however, I think it's becoming popular and might not be as unusual as you think.

FWIW my friend calls his Ev, it always reminds me of Shirley off Eastenders Blush

Applejack5 · 24/08/2019 08:00

How about Amelie? That's pretty and quite unusual.

AverageMummy · 24/08/2019 07:53

I have a filler middle name for my time & was slightly jealous of those who didn’t. Parents all said the same thing though ‘I love it so...’ but it did feel bland and boring to me. Rose is absolutely going to feel that way to the next generation
