What to think of the name rowan Ian

I really love the name rowan but babys middle name will be Ian as that runs through dps family not sure if rowan sounds bad with Ian though

I don't think they go together, but they will be used together rarely so I wouldn't worry too much.

Or choose another middle name as well, to go between them.

Break it up so it isn't read as Rowanian- something simple and generic maybe?

Definitely whack in another middle name then problem solved. Could choose one from the other side of the family (to the Ian being honoured) to be diplomatic. Good luck Flowers

Rowan James Ian (surname)
Rowan William Ian (surname)

Give two middle names so flows better? X

We wouldn't be double barrelling the first and middle name and I doubt I'd ever say his name including Ian unless needs be but the times when I do have to use it would it sound too bad or should I go back to the drawing board to find a new name? Babyis due next week and I'm finding it so stressful to find a perfect name, as me and dp have completely different ideas on names. I think if I left it till he was born my mind would be blank and I'd just call him baby

It doesn't really flow at all, but I'm not fussed about middle names sounding nice if they are being used to honour relatives etc. That said you could stick another middle name in so Rowan Henry Ian Smith (or whatever) to break it up.

How about a triple name ?
I know an adult with the name Rowan Hawthorn James (surname)

Doesn’t flow that well but I don’t think that really matters if you like the first name, would be a shame to change it to flow with the middle name when it’s not really used that much.

You could maybe add another middle name to make it ‘flow’ a bit better if you wanted

Rowan is lovely but as @99bb said doesn't flow well.
Not a fan of Ian, but that may be a non-starter.

Might because both have the same 2 syllable pattern and both end in same sound.

Maybe something shorter or longer or with different end sound, e.g. Alexander Ian, Thomas Ian.

Rowan Ian doesn't really flow together. Rowan is a lovely name though! Ian not so much but if it's a family name it doesn't matter and won't be used that often anyway.

It doesn’t flow perfectly, but how often do you use it all together anyway? I’d rather have the names I wanted (unless it made something rude together, of course!), than compromise to something that rarely gets used together to flow beautifully
