Henry or Edward?

We like traditional names and are still undecided between these two.

We have a short 3 letter surname so I'm just not sure about the shortened versions of Edward (e.g Ed, Ted etc.) Definitely don't like Teddy. But don't mind Eddie. I like Henry but there's no real nickname potential. Not sure if that's a problem.

Which do you prefer?

Thanks in advance! Smile

Edward. Lovely babe

MyHeartIsBrokeButIHaveSomeGlue · 23/08/2019 07:30

These are two of my favourite names for a baby boy! I like that Edward has more nickname options but think Henry has the edge for me. I would just call him H for a nickname but I'm a bit of an east ender

pumpkinpie07 · 23/08/2019 07:09

Thanks everyone. Maybe slightly more votes for Henry. It is so hard to decide!

I really like both but I'd probably go for Edward.

Nonameyet1 · 22/08/2019 19:34

Edward

EleanorReally · 22/08/2019 06:55

personally i prefer henry

Sparklysunflower · 22/08/2019 06:47

Edward seems more popular at the moment.

I'd choose Henry. The natural shortening would probably be Hen?

nat789 · 22/08/2019 03:15

Henry 😀

DramaAlpaca · 22/08/2019 01:26

I really like both, but if put on the spot & forced to choose I'd go for Edward. Probably with Eddy or Ed as the diminutive, or maybe Ned.

Fifthtimelucky · 22/08/2019 01:21

I like both, but prefer Edward, which is one of my favourite names for a boy.

Sophronia · 21/08/2019 21:52

Henry

MamaToAli · 21/08/2019 21:49

I like both, but like Henry the most

AverageMummy · 21/08/2019 21:43

I love the name Henry & quite like Hal as nn
Edward is lovely but I’m not a fan of Ed/Eddy but Ned is lovely

Ellmau · 21/08/2019 21:10

Harry is the traditional nickname for Henry. Hal is also possible though more old fashioned/outdated now.

Ned for Edward any good for you?

Star801 · 21/08/2019 20:34

Like both but Henry is my current favourite.

7Worfs · 21/08/2019 20:25

I considered both, but used neither.
My boss is called Ed, so that was that.
Husband vetoed Henry Sad

Edwin is a great one, as PP suggested.

Zarara · 21/08/2019 20:22

Henry but both are nice

user1493494961 · 21/08/2019 18:17

Edward.

RuthW · 21/08/2019 18:02

Love Edward but love Edwin even more. Love Ed as a shortening.
