Thoughts on this name for a baby girl?
I like McKayla Rose

I went to school with somebody called Mychaela if that helps? Not keen though i must admit.

64sNewName · 20/08/2019 15:52

Not keen on McKayla, or any McSomething names as first names.

I once met a small girl whose first name was McCambridge Shock

AlexaAmbidextra · 20/08/2019 15:51

Hideous.

wheelywheelynice · 20/08/2019 15:49

Seriously, don't. I know someone who spells it Mikala, so why not do that if you want to be different?

OrangeSwoosh · 20/08/2019 15:49

I dislike Michaela

Is it not the same name? Confused

How are you pronouncing it?

Actually I guess it isn't. I'd pronounce McKayla with a glottal stop, so Mc-kayla with two "k" sounds.

What about Mikala or Mikayla if necessary? It's the Mc bit that is the problem...

PuffHuffle5 · 20/08/2019 15:47

I dislike Michaela Blush

How?? It’s the same name! For the most part, a name is for saying out loud - surely liking the sound of it is what’s important. I don’t see how an arrangement of letters can change how you feel about a name Confused

Ginkypig · 20/08/2019 15:44

Being Scottish I wouldn't think of anything starting with mc as a first name as it's very common for surnames.

I have seen names, especially American names like that.

To be honest while I wouldn't use that name that doesn't matter what I or anyone else thinks if you like that name and want to name your child that then that's all that matters!

StockTakeFucks · 20/08/2019 15:43

Here she is.

McKayla

There's an American gymnast named McKayla. I'd assume you're American.

It's not the worst the worst name.

Ritascornershop · 20/08/2019 15:40

In Canada this sort of thing was rampant 20 years ago, still to an extent. People a couple of hundred years from their Scots roots forgetting what Mc means. I’ve seen McKayla, Mackaila, McKala, McCailla. You make it, people spell it. I can’t even see Michaela now without grimacing.

I think when it comes to baby names it’s best to hear how people really feel. If everyone was being tactful you might still go for it.

I still really love mckayla but I guess it’s time to get back to the drawing board.

Not really - I’m sure most people like the name Michaela. Why is not being able to spell it so bizarrely a deal breaker here?

DerelictWreck · 20/08/2019 15:37

It's wonderful! If you hate your baby...

Thanks everyone, however frankly patronising some of you were Wink

Ohyesiam · 20/08/2019 15:26

Dreadful

Atlasta · 20/08/2019 15:25

Awful spelling. Not nice name.

twattymctwatterson · 20/08/2019 15:24

Very yoonique hun

PuffHuffle5 · 20/08/2019 15:22

McKayla as in Michaela? Spelt with a Mc and Kayla because you’re oh so kree8iv? Hmm

BusterGonad · 20/08/2019 15:20

I'm sorry but it's horrible and I'm already judging you/her.

kjhkj · 20/08/2019 15:19

its ridiculous

Scarletoharaseyebrows · 20/08/2019 15:09

Please dont. You're popping her straight into a lifetime of people judging her...

Namechangeforthiscancershit · 20/08/2019 15:07

That would be a "no" from me.

No mad keen the correct spelling either, but then maybe it'll be back in fashion soon.
