Thoughts on this name for a baby girl?
I like McKayla Rose

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

I love how the "made up" bar is basically reduced to how familiar someone is other countries, spellings and cultures.

Ohhh I've never heard it, it's made up and you're bonkers. No love, you're ignorant and have a limited knowledge of the outside world.

CassianAndor · 20/08/2019 18:36

Of course you can like a name spelt one way and not another!
I like Jane, but hate Jayne.
I prefer Clare to Claire.
I like Susannah but not Suzanna.

Its not hard.

Fudgecakes · 20/08/2019 18:31

My friend has this name which I think lovely but she spells it Mechaela which is a beautiful and slightly unusual way to spell it without being too 'out there'

StockTakeFucks · 20/08/2019 18:30

Well it started getting popular in the US in 1988 so it's not like OP made it up herself by throwing some scrabble pieces in the air.

Gingerkittykat · 20/08/2019 18:29

The perception of the Mc/mac names is that they are American and were fashionable a few years ago amongst young working class British women, what many would call chavs. Of course it's not totally true as JK Rowling called her daughter Mackenzie.

I like McKayla, I'm Scottish and nobody cares about the son of meaning here. It's different and modern but not too out there.

Michaela makes me read Michael!
Have enjoyed reading some of your replies :) the ‘take it you’re not posh’ was a personal highlight!
Thanks all.

@Ritascornershop
Oh absolutely! I want people’s honest opinions although some people go a step too far I reckon. No need to be condescending!❤️

Too chav.

MileyWiley · 20/08/2019 18:01

Awful.

Ffsnosexallowed · 20/08/2019 17:55

Michaela is a beautiful name, the name of one of the most beautiful women I have ever known.

McKayla is a made up spelling

Bouledeneige · 20/08/2019 17:53

I'm sorry I'm not a fan. Even if it was spelt correctly!

Heratnumber7 · 20/08/2019 17:52

How can you like McKayla but not like Michaela? Hmm
It's the same pronunciation, unless you're pronouncing McKayla in some odd way we haven't thought of.

Exitstrategist · 20/08/2019 17:52

Good wind up!

soapona · 20/08/2019 17:50

Take it your not posh?

Sexy90 · 20/08/2019 17:48

Absolutely not Confused

Ravingstarfish · 20/08/2019 17:06

I dislike Michaela
It’s the same name though?
What if she marries a McDonald and becomes Mckayla Mcdonald? Isn’t that too many ‘muck’ sounds?

Floralnomad · 20/08/2019 17:02

How were you pronouncing the name you made up then if you hate Michaela

yearinyearout · 20/08/2019 16:37

Terrible. If you want to use the name Michaela spell it properly.

Soubriquet · 20/08/2019 16:34

My name is Micheala.

But it’s spelt like that ^^

It’s hard because people have to ask how to pronounce it and I can never find things with my name on it which pissed me off when I was growing up.

Don’t do it

Branleuse · 20/08/2019 16:30

its not that bad, although im not overly keen on odd spellings of established names, but if you really like it, then its inoffensive

BendydickCuminsnatch · 20/08/2019 16:28

I went to school with a Mackaela during the 90s. Another option!

Thornhill58 · 20/08/2019 15:59

Nice name if spelled correctly.

Thornhill58 · 20/08/2019 15:59

Only in America I would expect that kind of spelling. Just awful and a road to spelling hell for her.
