Think it is a beautiful name!

FartnissEverbeans · 20/08/2019 17:27

I love Maeve and I think it looks lovely when spelled in the anglicised manner too.

Maeva is also beautiful.

HMArsey · 20/08/2019 16:53

Maeve always sound very plain and apron-y to me. I love Muireann though.

ThatCurlyGirl · 20/08/2019 16:48

Love it. I'd go for Méabh but understand that if you're in England that may be a recipe for mispronunciation! Gorgeous sounding name though, really like it.

If you're a fan of that I'd think you'd also like Aisling and Saoirse but I know if you're not in Ireland they might cause pronunciation problems too!

whatashitshow1 · 20/08/2019 16:48

I love it. Niamh is great too

Atlasta · 20/08/2019 16:45

I really don't like it.

itssquidstella · 20/08/2019 16:45

I don't like it, it makes me think of Maeve Binchy and dowdy old ladies in rain bonnets.

Mollie3 · 20/08/2019 16:44

I think it’s sweet but a bit edgy too and would suit baby through to adult, not too common either.

It means ‘intoxicating’ (Celtic/Gaelic)

My daughter's middle name is Maeve.
I believe the correct pronunciation is Ma - eve but we pronounce it Mave as that was her late grandmother's name (Mavis).

AudacityOfHope · 20/08/2019 15:22

The Maeve I know is 15 and very cool, and a Taekwon Do champion. I like it!

MrsBertBibby · 20/08/2019 15:20

Niamh works much better in an English accent t.

FlauntsHerAmpleAssets · 20/08/2019 14:33

Like Maeve a lot.

Slightly prefer Niamh/Neve, though.

poolblack · 20/08/2019 14:29

I think it's pronounced Mave but then I wonder bc there are always these names that sound so unlike they read and also because Mave just sounds like your nans mate Mavis. 'Ooo Mave, do you fancy the bingo'

Takemebacktolondon · 20/08/2019 14:23

Awful. Too old-fashioned sorry.

MrsBertBibby · 20/08/2019 14:22

I love it with a proper Irish accent but not Anglicised.

user1493494961 · 20/08/2019 14:10

Very nice, what about Maeve Elizabeth.

Bouledeneige · 20/08/2019 13:26

Sorry I don't like it. Sounds old ladyish to me. Like Mavis.

bellinisurge · 20/08/2019 08:11

Nice but I just think of Maeve Binchy. Not sure that's a problem but it's what popped into my head with that name.

missyB1 · 20/08/2019 08:10

Love it! Ds was going to be Maeve (that’s the spelling that would be easiest to use).

Astronica · 20/08/2019 08:07

I love it.

Maeve Eliza
Maeve Georgina
Maeve Matilda
Maeve Lucinda
Imogen Maeve
Felicity Maeve
Matilda Maeve
Cressida Maeve

soundsystem · 20/08/2019 07:54

I love it! Was top of our list for DD1 but then some friends had a DD a few months before us and used it for their DD so we were back to the drawing board! (We hadn't mentioned it).

I think most people would be able to pronounce it easily when spelt Maeve. I prefer the Maebh spelling but would cause confusion outside of Scotland/Ireland.

Peachbubble · 20/08/2019 07:48

I like it. I'd go with Maeve if you live outside of Ireland.

Binforky · 20/08/2019 07:46

I second how is it pronounced? I cant work it out.

31RueCambon · 20/08/2019 07:44

Clodagh Maeve. What my son was going to be!

31RueCambon · 20/08/2019 07:42

Beautiful!

So many Irish spellings though, go with Maeve. It is the most recognised.
