Wondering why this name isn't more popular?!

Maxine.

Given the popularity of Max names for boys, and boys names for girls. Maxine nn Max seems unbearably cool; does nobody else agree?!

Don’t like it

TheWildAndTheCurious · 19/08/2019 21:45

Because it's ugly.

YourVagesty · 19/08/2019 21:44

It sounds really 80s to me. And a bit rough.

MayFayner · 19/08/2019 21:42

Yes I agree it’s the “eeeeen” sound that’s offputting.

Also, similarities to “Maxi”.

PuffHuffle5 · 19/08/2019 21:29

I think anything ending in that ‘een’ sound is a bit dated, Maxine, Janine, Maureen, Eileen, Jaqueline, Christine... you don’t get many little girls with those names.

PuppyMonkey · 19/08/2019 21:25

Remember Maxine from Coronation Street - and her other half Ashley always called her Max-eem. Grin

It’s probably not very popular because it’s not a particularly nice name, imho.

Saucery · 19/08/2019 21:22

70s barmaid.

Champagne791 · 19/08/2019 21:22

Maxine Carr. Also feel it’s very dated.

Fudgenugget · 19/08/2019 21:22

I don't like it. It's a harsh on the ears name.

Mokepon · 19/08/2019 21:22

I like it but I guess for many it reminds them of Maxine Carr in the same way Myra is not a horrid name, it has bad connotations.

daisypond · 19/08/2019 21:21

I rather like it but I suppose people will say it’s dated. It’s not as classy or classic as Max either, so it does have a different vibe. And many will think of Maxine Carr.

doodlejump1980 · 19/08/2019 21:21

Maxine Carr. Enough said.

missmouse101 · 19/08/2019 21:20

Maxine Carr probably puts people off?
