Name you loved but it was just too quirky?

Is there a name you didn’t use because it was just too quirky or “out there” but still love?

I loved Starr, Juniper and Skye, DH vetoed! (Don’t even think those are that quirky, tbh.)

Also surprised by Clementine and Dylan on this list. Dylans are ten a penny here, and I know 3 Clementines of various ages.

Lark for a girl
We ended up having a boy but if he had been a girl we would have opted for our other choice Nova I think as Lark probably was too out there. But I still love it.

Indigo. I know it's not hugely quirky and I might consider it now if I had another but at the time it seemed a bit too hippy.

I liked Autumn but DH didn't. He liked Summer but I thought it was too out there.

@Beetlebum1981 Lars was on my list for my first, but she's a girl so....

Currently loving Cecelia for a girl....I can't do boys names, I only have girls!!

I'm not having any more though so.....

My girls all have unusual names none of them share their name with anyone in school but they are actually all "ordinary" traditional names.

@1066vegan I like the fact the name is across more mediums and has been a persons name. I do actually love it as a name! We should have got brave, just like Kizzy! Smile

Lots of names here aren't quirky or unusual round here at all... eg Felix, Quentin, Dylan, Clementine They're pretty common

@Frokni dd has a friend called Kizzy but she was named after the girl in Rumer Godden's "The diddakoi" (which was shown on children's TV decades ago as "Kizzy") rather than after the character in Roots.

A pp said that using Artemis as a boy's name sounds ignorant. Like that pp, I first came across Artemis when reading stories of Greek gods.

But to many people, the first association would be with Artemis Fowl, the boy who is the main character in the series of books by Eoin Colfer.

Sabrina - my favourite Charlie Angel (showing my age) and then Sabrina the Witch came along

Dylan - prior to Catherine Zeta Jones naming her son Dylan, this was fairly unusual (outside Wales). Dh vetoed it.

Bjorn - always fancied using a Scandinavian name, and Bjorn Borg was a huge tennis star growing up.

My dd is Skye Blue and I have only had positive comments. Be brave! Name your baby what you really want to. And she loves her name.

Since when Felix is a quirky name? Know quite a few babies and and toddlers Felixes, and a couple of adults.

Artemis for a boy sounds ignorant to me 🙄. It's the name of a Greek goddess of vegetation, childbirth and hunting (Roman name: Diana).
Boy's version is Artem in some countries, I think.

I know a grown up Ariadne(mid-30s), always admired her parents' bravery in naming her, just borrowing again from Greek mythology.
