Struggling to agree names. We have a Clara already.

I love the name Hetty but I’ve never really liked ‘nicknames’ as full names. I think Henrietta is ok but don’t love it (don’t love Hester or Heather either).

What do you think of Hetty?

Just to add never once in 5 years have we had a vacuum reference, DH was worried about that!

CatherineOfAragonsPrayerBook · 17/08/2019 18:49

What about Hephzibah?

But quite like Hetty despite it being a diminutive. I would go for it!Smile

DramaAlpaca · 17/08/2019 18:49

I had a fabulous great aunt Hettie Smile I like the name, but only as short for Henrietta, Harriet or Esther. All of which are nice with Clara.

DuggeesWoggle · 17/08/2019 18:46

I just think of Hetty Wainthrop. That's going back a bit now though!

SuzieQ10 · 17/08/2019 18:41

Prefer it with and ie. so Hettie. I used to know someone with this name and she had a fun, endearing personality.

Henriette? Or could you consider a name like Hedda shortened to Hedy, like the Hollywood star Hedy Lamarr? (From Hedwig originally, I think). Hattie Jacques, not Hetty, though.

Shahlalala · 17/08/2019 18:21

My DD is a Hetty and it’s a lovely name, full name Henrietta but it’s rarely used.
She’s named after her Great great Grandmother whose actual name was Esther.

Melstarrynight · 17/08/2019 18:13

I thought of Henrietta and then the vacuum cleaner, sorry Blush

Allyo19 · 17/08/2019 18:09

Harriet? Normal nickname is Hattie but Hetty could work.

Peachbubble · 17/08/2019 18:08

I like it, and I think it goes well with Clara.

Disfordarkchocolate · 17/08/2019 17:40

It makes me think of the truly wonderful Hetty Jacques. I really like it.

Mintypea5 · 17/08/2019 17:36

My great aunt was Esther but nicked name Hetty (not sure why!) as a child

Pinkallium · 17/08/2019 17:35

My friend uses it as a nickname for Esther which I think is a lovely name.
