Hetty

Struggling to agree names. We have a Clara already.

I love the name Hetty but I’ve never really liked ‘nicknames’ as full names. I think Henrietta is ok but don’t love it (don’t love Hester or Heather either).

What do you think of Hetty?

I like it as a short form of Harriet or Esther.

Equatoria · 20/08/2019 07:05

It reminds me of 'het up' meaning agitated.

Cookit · 20/08/2019 06:46

Agh autocorrect - all the Harrys should be Hattys.

Cookit · 20/08/2019 06:46

I love love love Hetty and Harry but I’d have a full name on the BC.
Hetty/ Harry reminds me of Tom’s Midnight Garden.

I also love Clara and the combination.

Mooncake87 · 20/08/2019 00:35

Hoover

Balladenny · 18/08/2019 21:59

Starrynights86 · 18/08/2019 03:45

Bookworm4 · 18/08/2019 02:52

I have Hettie dog 😉 very clever & feisty 🤣

HalfManHalfLabrador · 18/08/2019 02:36

Makes me think of old ladies and hoovers

OwlBeThere · 18/08/2019 01:59

People call kids Billy or Charlie or Jessie all the time I don’t see why she can’t be Hetty. I like it.

POP7777777 · 18/08/2019 01:53

Clara and Hetty! Fab combo!

tryingtobebetterallthetime · 18/08/2019 01:50

Mehetable is a pilgrim/pioneer name that shortens to Hetty.

Rachelover40 · 18/08/2019 01:47

Oh that's funny Treaclesponge, I never heard of a chicken called 'Hetty', I probably will now you've mentioned it!

As for 'Hoovers', or vacuums, when I was little my mum had one called a Goblin. I was terrified of it, it was kept in a box which had a horrible face picture on it.

Hazardtired · 17/08/2019 23:26

Hetty hover - sorry!

Treaclespongeandcustard · 17/08/2019 23:15

It’s a no from me. Hetty makes me think of hoovers or chickens. Sorry

Frith2013 · 17/08/2019 23:07

It’s lovely. If you’re going to give birth to a cantankerous hen.

AverageMummy · 17/08/2019 22:03

Thanks all really helpful

Esther is a great name! My daughter is Esther but I've never shortened it to Hetty.

Her sister calls her Essie and we call her estie. (Or Esther Pester!!! Poor child) But I can see that Hetty would work.

Rachelover40 · 17/08/2019 21:11

I really like Henrietta and you could call her, "Hetty"; also like Harriet - Hatty for short.

diddlediddle · 17/08/2019 21:05

Its a nickname. Nice enough but needs a proper name.

pooopypants · 17/08/2019 19:55

Just reminds me of the Hoover

Thumbs down from me

bossyboo · 17/08/2019 19:49

I have a Hetty - the hoover. To be fair she makes me very happy and she's always smiling and very happy to help so maybe it may be a good thing 😊 I think it's a really nice name actually. Smile

SoftBlocks · 17/08/2019 19:46

Nope from me, sorry.

PuppyMonkey · 17/08/2019 19:45

(It was Hattie Jacques not Hetty).

SummerintoAutumn · 17/08/2019 19:41

Hestia... goddess of the hearth (and domestic stuff!)
