I love the name Riel (ree-el) for a boy but does it sound way too corny with our last name...Riel Wild?

Semi wild?!

CendrillonSings · 21/08/2019 16:47

Are these posts for Riel? Wink

Luxesoap · 21/08/2019 16:42

Riel is too much especially with Wild.

Wild is a great name and goes with so many first names.
Any of these?
Felix
Gabriel
Raphael
Toby
Benedict
Ethan
Ezra
Nathan
Phineas

I think 3 syllables work best with your surname. I have an old school friend who has Wylde as a surname but she only has sisters so no help there!
Jonathan
Dominic
Theodore types of names?
Sound very dramatic

Cinammoncake · 19/08/2019 22:58

Keeping it riel.

Dont do it. Gabriel is okay though

CatherineOfAragonsPrayerBook · 17/08/2019 22:32

Roman Wild? Seriously?!!

Now you point it out, maybe not! Didn't pick up on the 'Roaming' sound.

AverageMummy · 17/08/2019 22:09

It’s bad anyway but Real Wild is asking for trouble

diddlediddle · 17/08/2019 21:07

River?

I'm sure Meryl and Kevin would approve.

Roman Wild? Seriously?!!

CatherineOfAragonsPrayerBook · 17/08/2019 19:22

Wild is a fantastic Surname to work with. You need something that does it justice.

Heath Wild
Oliver Wild
Jack Wild (my favourite combo)
Edgar Wild
Roman Wild
Reese Wild
Ronan Wild
Jett Wild

Phelan? Grin

*Awwlookatmybabyspider

It’d be a bit confusing if he was Riel at home and Gabriel at school. Your name is either abbreviated or it’s not.*

Don't be silly, children have been called by their full name at school and a diminutive at home for Generations.
Catherine at school Katy at home, Victoria at school Vicki at home, Jennifer at school Jenny at home etc

Ritascornershop · 17/08/2019 19:02

Please stop naming your kids Cohen. As mentioned up thread, it’s a special name, denoting a member of the priestly class and it feels rude and devaluing to me to plop it on a kid.

joystir59 · 17/08/2019 18:55

Gabriel Wild sounds good

HJWT · 17/08/2019 18:44

Cohen is nice, just remember people are not going to constantly be saying his last name. They would say
Hi Cohen
How are you Cohen
Cohen can you put your coat on. Etc

Daffodil2018 · 17/08/2019 18:40

Oscar

CendrillonSings · 17/08/2019 18:40

Hogg Wild?!

UserThenLotsOfNumbers · 17/08/2019 18:38

How about Wetand?

helpmum2003 · 17/08/2019 18:36

Torin?

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 17/08/2019 18:34

I do get how you’d get Riel from Gabriel, but The obvious one would be Gabe.

devilishlygood · 17/08/2019 18:24

I don’t see why you’d shorten Gabriel to Riel. Just because the letters are there? They’re two totally different names!

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 17/08/2019 18:10

lostinthewheatfield · 17/08/2019 18:08

How about Gabriel on bc but you use riel at home? Then whenever first and surname are used ( rarely even at school) it will be Gabriel.

devilishlygood · 17/08/2019 18:03

Aww, I’m feeling you OP. I really love Tait, but it wouldn’t work with DH's surname.

Have the option of using my surname as I didn’t take his, but DH has two other kids and they have his surname so I feel like mine should too.

If it helps, I think they’re lovely and unusual names...

Torben? Or Kerr?
