Quinn would have me presuming girl. Never heard of Castiel

Flowerspowersy · 17/08/2019 12:48

How about Quinn and Torin?

Abstractedobstructed · 17/08/2019 10:14

Lachlan is fine. Cool name though I knew one born in the 70s who changed his name to Len when he was 16...what a tragedy!

Torian to me is a cross between highly desired mumsnet kitchen worktops and being a conservative party voter, so it's a no from me.

HappydaysArehere · 17/08/2019 10:14

Oh! Dear.
Sorry it is your choice.
Their only hope is that the names will get shortened.

SleepingStandingUp · 17/08/2019 10:05

Ooh DH and I downloaded Kinder so there might be a few more options. Torian?? Lachlan? Are they less MN ridiculey?

Oh yes, Tristan is very wet.

I wouldn't rule out names because a friend has used them. On a day to day basis that makes no difference. My best friend from school called her ds the same name as mine. It doesn't matter as we only see each other a couple of times a year and now the kids are teens and don't move in the same social circles it makes no odds at all to them.

So, Xavier, Tobias and Nathaniel - known as Toby and Nate 😁

LadyGAgain · 16/08/2019 14:42

How about Cassian?
I love Quinn

SleepingStandingUp · 16/08/2019 14:23

Like all sound, no substance. As if it meant to be something else but stopped growing

@Brot64 possibly Boy1 and Bpy2!!

Lots of people have suggested Tristan and it's on our list but it seems a bit of a floppy name

Brot64 · 16/08/2019 13:37

@ViserionTheDragon Smile. I love this thread and cannot wait to see which name's OP ends up with. Peregrine still makes me chuckle. Thanks.

notmuchmoretogive · 16/08/2019 13:07

Love your comment that Peregrine is too posh, the others seem to be too.

I definitely wouldn't have alliterations in their names (both beginning with the same letter), they won't than you for it.

I like Tristan the best out of the ones you've mentioned.

SleepingStandingUp · 16/08/2019 11:50

No rhyming names

Teddybear45 · 16/08/2019 11:17

Finn and Quinn?

BlueBilledBeatboxingBird · 16/08/2019 11:14

PS the Josiah I know goes by Jed, which is also a nice name in its own right.

SleepingStandingUp · 16/08/2019 11:05

I have taken into consideration the comment Re initials,. Most of the name pairs we liked don't match and our girls names don't. It certainly isn't part of the plan however much I like Xantge and Xerses

BlueBilledBeatboxingBird · 16/08/2019 10:57

OP, do twins run in your family? If not, I would really encourage you to find some adult identical twins and talk to them, perhaps via a forum. It is really hard to forge your own identity as an identical twin. People are really shit at learning to tell them apart and with boys there are fewer tricks to make it easier when they are in school uniform (compared to hair accessories etc for girls).

Please consider giving them names which complement each other but do not match. Please give them their own initial. You and DH might have to compromise a little on your ideal names in consideration of what your boys’ experience will be like as they grow up.

ViserionTheDragon · 16/08/2019 10:24

Whrn = when

ViserionTheDragon · 16/08/2019 10:23

@Brot Smile. This thread remimnded me of whrn I was listening to The Allusionist podcast and one particular epsisode was about people with unusual names and how their lives were shaped by them. There was a chap on it called Peregrine. I would highly recommend it to the OP for inspiration...

SleepingStandingUp · 16/08/2019 10:21

It wouldn't be this blooming hard if thry were girls!!!!

OP posts:
SleepingStandingUp · 16/08/2019 10:21

@ViserionTheDragon I wasn't questioning the honesty of your opinion, simply saying it's a statement I've never understood. Surely we all try hard to pick a nice name for our child otherwise the world would be full of Sharon and Derek's.

Peregrine is def far too posh!!

@riotladyno Sam or Jenson, no naming babies after people we fancy 😂

OP posts:
Brot64 · 16/08/2019 03:52

@ViserionTheDragon 😂😂😂😂. I said it out load and NO! Just NO!

riotlady · 16/08/2019 00:36

If you’re going to go down the classical names route, at least try and pick ones that have a semi happy ending! Icarus is not a great namesake. (Although not as bad as Lily Allen calling her kid Phaedra)

And Castiel is no good unless you’re a MASSIVE Supernatural fan (and even then I’d suggest Robert or Samuel)

ViserionTheDragon · 16/08/2019 00:15

Just being honest, OP. However, if we are going down the unusual names route, might I suggest Peregrine?

SleepingStandingUp · 15/08/2019 23:39

How about Cassius or Caspar?

Cannot sell DH on Cassius at all, too many s sounds apparently. And Caspar/er will always be a friendly ghost, friends with Hairy Scary and the kid who played Wednesday. I don't care what deeper cultural significance it has, he's a ghost lol
