Opinions please, I know a girl (17) with this name and she hates it but I quite like it as a first name since it’s always used as a middle name (coming from the person who has a daughter called Callie Louise)

Love my name!! However my family and I hate it being shortened to Lou...

MrsSlocombesPussy · 15/08/2019 23:15

I like it, it's not only the middle name of the 80's though. It's a family tradition to have it as a middle name, so my daughter has it (14), my sister (44) and my mum (76).
Funnily enough my mum was named after her grandmother who was called Anna Louisa, but my grandparents thought that sounded too old fashioned so called her Anne Louise.

TubbyMonkeh · 15/08/2019 23:04

So very, very 80s.

My middle name and I hate it.

LegoPiecesEverywhere · 15/08/2019 23:03

Love Louisa

Cookit · 15/08/2019 10:35

I love Louisa, it was on my list. For some reason I don’t like Louise though.

Hairyheadphones · 15/08/2019 10:07

I find Louise a really dull name yet Louisa is one of my favourite names.

ThreeRandomWords · 15/08/2019 10:02

I think Eloise is a faddy name, and Louise is much better.

tripletmum8 · 14/08/2019 22:23

Step-daughter is called Louise and she hates it. I love it but then again I’m probably a bit biased.

AverageMummy · 14/08/2019 21:47

Don’t think you get much closer to the definition of dated.

Louise??
SweetMelodies · 14/08/2019 21:33

It was definitely the ‘May’ or ‘Rose’ of the 90s with every other girl having it as a filler middle name for some reason?

It is quite a pretty name in its own right though, I do prefer Eloise though.

foxtiger · 14/08/2019 21:29

I really like it, especially as a first name.

Frith2013 · 12/08/2019 17:59

It’s the middle name of every woman aged 30-50 who hasnt got Jane as a middle name.

Or the first name of shrewish middle managers.

bridgetreilly · 12/08/2019 17:56

I like Louise though slightly prefer Louisa. I do not like Eloise at all.

CheckingOutTheQuantocks · 12/08/2019 15:49

I hate it, it's such an ugly noise of a name. The way all the emphasis is on the second syllable, the "wheeze" sound, and the likelihood of its being mistyped as Lousie. It is also surprisingly hard to find a surname that it goes with. I may or may not have reasons for holding these opinions.

Enko · 12/08/2019 14:18

I prefer Louisa However alot to do with having known Louise's who were horrific and 2 utterly lovely Louisa's

Gigiandme · 12/08/2019 14:02

Dated and dull imo

weebarra · 12/08/2019 13:29

I feel for my parents! I'm actually named after a line in a Bob Dylan song and they didn't realise how popular the name was. I like it though, my nickname is Leese.

Pinkout · 12/08/2019 11:01

I prefer Eloise. Louise is dated and boring, it is almost always used as a middle name. It’s the middle name of about five people I can think of including my Mother.

whiteroseredrose · 12/08/2019 10:14

It's a lovely name. One of my best friends is Louise.

However her slightly dyslexic husband sometimes spells it Lousie!

IsobelRae23 · 12/08/2019 10:13

My middle name, and over half my form
In High School- it is so dated, as if parents had no imagination and acted like sheep. I know 5 Louise’s, and hate the shortened Lou- although that’s what we call my close friend and she hates her name full stop, so 🤷🏻‍♀️

Weenurse · 12/08/2019 09:59

We went with Louisa

Lilyannarose · 12/08/2019 09:59

*Just realised I've typed that as if it used to be my middle name. It still is my middle name!

Lilyannarose · 12/08/2019 09:57

I like it.
As with many others of my generation it was also my middle name!
As a teen I went through a phase of disliking my first name.
I always remember my name being called by a new doctor who mistook my middle name for my first name and called me "Louise".
My mum corrected him and I remember being really annoyed with her for doing so! "You should have let him think my name is Louise!".

Atlasta · 12/08/2019 09:19

Prefer Louisa or Eloise.
Louise seems dated.

IckleBear · 12/08/2019 09:15

It's ok, people seem to like it in Germany but it's said like Louisa.
