Will Angus always be “Gus”?

I love the name Angus, but really dislike Gus, which I’m worried it would always be shortened to?

I also like Hamish. Any other names of that type that I might like?

I know an Angus, who is called Anus at school so it would be a definite no from me.

Also I know a couple of Anguses and neither are Gus. In fact their names aren't ever shortened at all that I can recall!

Not necessarily.

It could be Gus.

Or it could be Ang, Angie, Angoo....right through to completely leftfield nicknames that naturally come about because of a like, dislike, hobby, hair colour, shoe size, because he fell in a puddle once etc.

So Angus could end up being called Baffer or Spink or Toodle or anything!

Fraser? Calder? Brodie?
