I think it's really sweet. Surname is Heard, so whatever I name her she will be Miss Heard 😂

Others I thought of are:
Abigail
Audrey
Esme
Heidi

Views would be welcome.

Alma reminds me of The History of Love too, like a PP! Lovely name Smile

magicmallow · 09/08/2019 20:41

nah too granny!

QueenOfTheHighCs · 09/08/2019 20:40

I have an Alma and everyone loves it, including her. I chose it because of a Spanish connection, but we've not met any others yet - we've met some Albas (I also considered this name), but preferred Alma. I've never watched Coronation Street, so was blissfully unaware of that (as are most of our Southern friends and family!). GO for it!

I was just about to say that I love the name but it would make me think of creepy dolls then saw that @saucery has already linked to it.

Just don’t let her wander into any toy shops on her own.....

joystir59 · 09/08/2019 20:33

I don't like it, it sounds old fashioned and harsh

DramaAlpaca · 09/08/2019 20:29

I really don't like Alma. It's granny-not-so-chic to me. Sorry.

diddlediddle · 09/08/2019 20:27

Alma is a lovely name and IMO is no different to all the other similar popular names atm like Alba, Ayla, Aida, Ada, Aria, Aila, Anya, Aura, etc etc

Snipples · 09/08/2019 15:56

It's a nice name but it makes me think of Sister Act - "Alma, check ya battery!" stamp Stamp!

PixieLumos · 09/08/2019 15:30

Hmm, Alma Heard sounds like a lesser version of Amber Heard - or Amber Heard’s grandmother. I’m very open minded when it comes to names but I don’t think Alma needs to make a come back. Esme and Heidi are great !

Missbdhfc · 09/08/2019 15:25

Albatross 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

All nice except I can't see Heidi Heard as a good combo.

Audrey or Alma are nicest

NoSauce · 09/08/2019 14:24

I prefer Albatross

Grin
notso · 09/08/2019 14:24

FGS! Not Albatross!!
Alba.

NoSauce · 09/08/2019 14:24

Alma of Corrie.

Alba is nicer.

notso · 09/08/2019 14:23

I just think of Alma Pudden.

I prefer Albatross

Militantmartha · 09/08/2019 14:21

Alma is lovely and also like Esme

Frith2013 · 09/08/2019 11:21

The Alma is my local pub so that would put me off!

Heidi Heard doesn’t work. It’s like hi-di-hi! Or yodelling.

SallyWD · 09/08/2019 11:14

I love it. Doesn't it mean soul in Spanish?

Missbdhfc · 09/08/2019 11:07

Thank you. I guess her generation won't really remember Alma from Corrie. The dreaded 'that reminds me of...' could apply to any names really. I'm a teacher as well so it's very hard coming up with something.

Icklepup · 09/08/2019 11:05

ChihuahuaMummy1 · 09/08/2019 10:34

Prefer Elma

evilharpy · 09/08/2019 10:25

It's pretty. It means "soul" in Spanish which I like.
