Is Ellie now dated? If so when did it pass? Sorry if that’s poor English - not my first language

Yes , and it’s always been awful- smelly Ellie.
Eleanor is lovely.

Yes, it peaked in 2003/4 at #2 in the charts and has now fallen to #50 in the most recent stats from 2017.

Yes, it’s dated, and it’s also become very popular and now a bit twee. The Ellies I know were born in the 90s, so they are 20-plus now. It’s definitely been and gone in my bit of the UK.

Love Eleanor then could be Elle, Ella or Ellie. My preference would be Ella

I also think Eleanor is lovely, handmaid's tale has made me realise my love for the name. Ellie might be dated as an actual name, but you can always use it as a nickname

It is my name, I’m almost 30. When I was born it was not common at all, I was the only one in my school in fact. Now it seems to be super common, there are lots of Ellie’s in my DC’s classes. Usually Ellie-Mae tbf.

I think Eleanor is a safe bet. It's lovely on its own and can be shortened to Ellie, Ella, Elle or Nora... maybe even Anna.... depending on what suits.

I know of two toddler Eleanors (one of which is nicknamed Ellie), but no 'just' Ellies. I'm in my 20s and had 10 in my school year (some were Elle, Eloise, Eleanor, Ellen, Elly, etc rather than Ellie but all had the nn). It doesn't feel too dated to me actually (yet), despite what I previously mentioned.

I know two Ellie's who are under 5. It has been popular for 20 years, but not dated IMO.

Yes! It was super fashionable about 10-15 years ago and I know lots and lots of teenage Ellies.

It feels 'dated' and overused.

I know lots of Ellies aged between 3 and 17 years old so don't thinks its necessarily dated but very common.

Elisha, Elissia or just Ellie/Elly seems to be more usual now. Eleanor is nice, but you would have to push Nora as a nn or you'd likely have an Ellie anyway

I know a lot of Ellies that we're born in the 90s. None that were born recently. I don't know whether that helps.
