Posting for sister in law who is expecting a little girl and she's narrowed it down to the following two:

Claudia
Meredith

Thanks!

Meredith

AdelaideK · 08/08/2019 10:28

Claudia. I couldn't care less about the meaning, it's a lovely name.

Frith2013 · 08/08/2019 10:28

Claudia. Because I don’t like the English pronunciation of Meredith.

whatausername · 08/08/2019 10:27

Yes, absolutely Astronica, just change the meaning on a whim and render it...errrr...meaningless. Words have meanings because we all use similar or the same meaning, you numpty.

That said, OP, Claudia is lovely and not many know the meaning of it. Even if they do it is somewhat irrelevant bc soon when they hear the name they will think of your DD.

Astronica · 08/08/2019 08:46

I much prefer Claudia. The so-called meaning wouldn't worry me - language evolves over time and names do the same. Nobody in these times uses Claude/Claudia as a descriptor of a lame child. If it helps I would consider it meaning 'overcomes adversity' or 'strength in adversity'.

alohamfs · 08/08/2019 08:38

I love the name Claudia. I have a a south-American friend and she pronounces it Cloud-ia and it's so dreamy to me

Butterfly005 · 08/08/2019 08:38

Meredith

Rainbowqueeen · 08/08/2019 08:26

CLaudia is gorgeous.

Prefer Merrin over Meredith

MrsMozartMkII · 08/08/2019 08:25

Meredith.

Cbeebiesrehab · 08/08/2019 08:22

Meredith. Love Merry as a nn.

Theducksarenotmyfriends · 08/08/2019 07:54

Meredith. Merry as a nn is really sweet. Saying Claudia always makes me feel my mouth is full of chalk!

Peachbubble · 08/08/2019 07:53

Meredith

Lavenderblues · 08/08/2019 07:52

The meaning of Claudia (claudus = lame, crippled in Latin) would unfortunately put me off.

cptartapp · 08/08/2019 07:49

Meredith.

TowerRingInferno · 08/08/2019 07:42

Claudia

AmericanLemonade · 08/08/2019 07:38

Claudia is lovely

Disfordarkchocolate · 08/08/2019 07:35

I like them both but I picked all my names with meanings that I loved too. Based on that its Meredith for me.

SmartPlay · 08/08/2019 07:31

I don't really like either, but given those 2 choices I'd take Claudia.

When I hear Meredith I'm either thinking of a kid that is a spoilt brat living in mansion commanding her servants around, or of an adult trophy wife with fake blond hair.

daisypond · 08/08/2019 07:29

Claudia by miles. Meredith is a male name/surname.

AuntieStella · 08/08/2019 07:26

I prefer Meredith, because I know I wouidn't have the patience or grace to be dealing with a name with more than one pronunciation (and wouid not inflict the issue life long on a DC)

LegoPiecesEverywhere · 08/08/2019 07:21

Claudia

CloserIAm2Fine · 08/08/2019 07:21

Claudia

Sophronia · 08/08/2019 00:27

Claudia

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 08/08/2019 00:17

Claudia.
Meredith is harsh and unfriendly.

Ellmau · 07/08/2019 23:54

I prefer Claudia.
