Looking for a second name for Isla. All I can think of is Isla Drew but I know someone who named their child this and I don't really like the person so I can't bring myself to use the exact same name! Any other suggestions?

I like Isla Jane best, nice and simple.

Frith2013 · 05/08/2019 00:45

Isla Joy isn’t great. It sounds like someone had very satisfying sex and reached “the Isle of Joy” Shock Or maybe it’s the aisle of interesting things in Lidl!

Isla Fernando’s?

Isla bike is a popular brand name, quite close to blake.

pregnantandsuffering · 04/08/2019 12:01

So far Isla Blake is my fave I think. We don't even know if we are having a girl as we aren't finding out, but I'm convinced the baby will be a boy so I think we are struggling with girls names

I think you need a longer name with it like Margaret, Elizabeth, felicity.

Do you mind it being very popular and being one of five in a class?

It's like Emily in my daughter's primary days. 20% of the girls in the year were called Emily, born 1996/7

Tillygetsit · 04/08/2019 00:04

As no one else has....Isla Bonita

I prefer Lorna to Isla though :)

I think one syllable and starting with a consonant work best with Isla (very pretty name by the way!). So I would suggest things like:

Isla Maeve
Isla Claire
Isla Jane
Isla Grace
Isla Kate
Isla Niamh

Ooh Isla is a hard name to pair up, like Faye, imagine in a Scottish accent "I'm Faye (from) xxxx" "oh where's xxxx"

If you are set on a Scottish name there are loads of other nice names to consider

Iona
Skye
Ailsa
Lena
Blair
Jeannie
Morna
Shona
Moira
Flora
Cameron
Morag
Rhona
Mairi
Emer

I'm not the Isla Skye poster no. I didn't even realise it was so popular still, I'm keen on a Scottish name which is how I settled on it. Will definitely be avoiding reference to any Isles.

Skye??

Grin Agree with other poster, it's a bit overdone now with the second cutesy name... just Isla is lovely!
EdtheBear · 03/08/2019 22:24

Your not the Isla Skye poster still thinking about middle names?

Quite a hard name to use as a first name without it sounding like Isle a' ......
Things to avoid are clearly any other islands or it sounds like Isle a' SkyeGrin
I'd avoid colours / things for the same reason ie Isla Joy doesn't sound much better.

Isla Margaret or something that's a clear name might work.

Jupiter13 · 03/08/2019 22:16

Isla Mildred is nice

ThePhoenixRises · 03/08/2019 22:15
