Albert or William? I know William is more popular overall but think Albert is perhaps more on trend so not reflected in popularity charts etc? Who do you know more of?

Bwekfusth · 04/08/2019 10:08

More William in this neck of the woods

ChampagneBuffet · 04/08/2019 10:05

William, never met an Albert

Josiefuzz · 04/08/2019 10:03

@MrFartPants yes - my sister had four others of the same name just in her class!

We called him Albert known as Bert! Thanks everyone!

I've never come across a little Albert, but know several young Will/Williams.

GeorgiaGirl52 · 04/08/2019 08:30

William. Don't know a single Albert (except in history books.)

Pippilangstrumpfi · 04/08/2019 08:01

Do people really choose names based on how many other people share the same name?

If they don't want their child to have to add a surname initial to their name (and be one of several in a class) or that a fashionable name falls out of favour and starts to sound dated.

I know lots of Williams but no young Alberts.

growlingbear · 04/08/2019 00:53

I know a ^lot& of Williams, Wills and Bills but no Alberts or Albies though I occasionally hear the name

Mammyloveswine · 04/08/2019 00:44

Teacher here..have taught one William but no Alberts in the past 5 years.

Can still answer the question @AuntieAvocado. Chill.

Dogsaresomucheasier · 03/08/2019 21:13

I don’t know any Williams under the age of ten, but I know four infant school Alberts/Bertie/Albie. The only other Albert or variations I’ve known are now deceased.

AuntieAvocado · 03/08/2019 20:03

OP HAS ALREADY CHOSEN ALBERT.

At least read the OP’s updates before posting!

Angrybottlethrower · 03/08/2019 19:28

William by a country mile

MonChatEstMagnifique · 02/08/2019 21:36

I know 1 William, don't know any Alberts but know 2 Albie's.

IggyAce · 02/08/2019 21:29

I know 2 Williams ages 13 and 4, don’t know any Alberts.

17caterpillars1mouse · 02/08/2019 21:26

I know 2 Alberts
I know 3 Williams

I hear William at the park /swimming / playgroups etc. I never hear Albert. I do occasionally hear Bertie though which I guess could be a shortening of Albert

HappyGirl86 · 02/08/2019 21:21

I'm a registrar so register lots of births. I tend to do more Williams as a middle name. Albie is more popular than Albert. I haven't registered a lot of Alberts.
Biggest ones at the moment are Ronnie, Frankie and Arlo.

Chochito · 02/08/2019 21:16

I know a lot of babies called both names, I feel like Albert is slightly more popular.

JoJoSM2 · 02/08/2019 21:07

Amongst children, I've met Albies but no Williams. Amongst adults, I only know Williams.

MeMeMeYou · 02/08/2019 19:20

I know one Albert and one Bertie. Lots of williams

IIN16 · 02/08/2019 19:04

I don't know any Alberta but know a few Williams

Josiefuzz · 02/08/2019 15:07

I’ve only ever known one Albert but many many Williams.

AuntieAvocado · 02/08/2019 14:58

I’m in south east and know a few Albies and Berties who are all 6 and under. I know a lot of adult Williams but no children.
