Due out in Sept/ Oct.
My 2018 baby is now 1 and a half and I'd love to know where her name comes.
So top predictions.
I'm going with Freya for a girl.
Boys... Harry/ Enzo/ Theo.

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
IceRebel · 09/08/2019 07:40

Penelope / Penny will definitely rise. It seems to be everywhere. I'm also coming across more children called Arwen, Theo and Elijah.

Oneforposy7 · 09/08/2019 07:36

I agree with @sew3stitch re the O trend. I think that will apply to girls as well. Heard a lot of Ottilies and I think that will jump up.

Sew3stitch · 09/08/2019 06:44

For anyone interested, the 2018 stats are due to be released on 29 August so not long now. I don’t know why but I’ve always been fascinated by baby names so I’m a right geek and love studying the data when it comes out. Blush

My prediction is an increase in boys names ending in “o”- Arlo, Theo, Milo, etc. Girls seems a bit more varied but I see quite a lot of flower/nature names like Ivy so I think that will climb.

HairyToity · 08/08/2019 21:36

I know three little Aria's born in 2018. I think this might be a riser.

Also know lots of Oscar's, but this has been popular for a while.

Lavenderblues · 08/08/2019 21:17

Old names are definitely rising in popularity again

Arthur
Alfred
Quentin
Wilfred
Frederick

Dorothy
Mabel
Margot
Beryl
Florence

CocoBlair · 08/08/2019 21:02

A lot of the older names for girls. Betty, Mabel, Dotty, Elizabeth etc

Skyejuly · 07/08/2019 16:12

George
Harry
Theo
Charlotte
Rose

taylorlynn · 07/08/2019 16:10

All the L names are mega popular:
Leo
Lola
Luna
Layla
Lila
Lacey

Grufallosfriends · 07/08/2019 13:56

According to this article 90s names are falling out of fashion quickly whereas retro names like Arthur, Quentin and Beryl are rising in popularity.

Poetryinaction · 06/08/2019 12:18

Oh yes, Logan!

OP posts:
Matleavemadam · 05/08/2019 22:04

Still coming across baby Olivia's and Amelia's so think they will remain top two names for girls.
Think Freya will rise again from last year
Also Penny/Penelope and Evie

Keep coming across baby Logan's for boys, not sure where that is in the chart at the minute but if my area is anything to go by think that will rise too.

billielilah · 05/08/2019 20:56

Summer Ezra Wyatt are all quite popular near me

Poetryinaction · 03/08/2019 00:23

I am happy for my kids' names to be mentioned here. A popular name is a liked name.
Yes to Wren too.

Crunchymum · 02/08/2019 22:31

I have a 2018 baby, the name is always mentioned on here.

STFU MN Grin Grin

17caterpillars1mouse · 02/08/2019 21:38

Arlo will have shot up I think and Eli type names

I think Aria will have gone up a lot and possibly Margot

laylabella · 02/08/2019 14:02

Think Isabella and Isabelle might take over the Olivia and Amelia as number one/two. I know a lot of them!!
Have heard Aubrey for a girl several times. Luna and Willow also

Ellmau · 02/08/2019 13:09

Elodie not Eloise, thank you auticorrect

Ellmau · 02/08/2019 13:08

Eloise seems to be on the rise, I don’t know what the inspiration is, I never herd of it until recently but now I know of. A Few baby Elodies.

Militantmartha · 02/08/2019 12:25

I hear of lots of baby boys called Arlo and Theo and more called Enzo, Ezra, Issac and Jasper

Lots of baby girls called Ada, Iris, Ivy, Rose, Mabel, Florence, Willow now hearing more of the names Wren and also Astrid

99bb · 02/08/2019 09:48

Never understand why it takes so long for these to come out - don’t the US manage it way earlier than us? And they’ve got far more babies and more complexity

HellYeah90s · 02/08/2019 07:26

Heaps of new names entering like those mentioned above so I reckon we will see a significant drop in names that have been around for 20 odd years in the top 10 / 20 e.g Chloe, Jessica, Lucy, Ellie, Hannah, Georgia, Samuel, Ben, Luke, Matthew etc

Surname names for boys will rise e.g Carter will definitely shoot up.

Elijah, Finn, Rory are others.

Orla seems to be quite popular, as does Hallie and Darcie so they will probably increase.

Thanks Snowdrop. That's an interesting read.

I have a 2018 baby too but I think his name will probably have decreased in popularity. It was more popular in the 90s.
