I've come across this name which is practically non existent!

Remony.

I don't know its meaning or origin but I really love it. In my head it sounds like a variation of Remona? Anyways, what do people think?

Thanks :)

Sounds like you're trying to say memory but getting mixed up

madcatladyforever · 29/07/2019 22:36

Her nickname is always going to be moany.

mrsw2 · 29/07/2019 22:35

I really like it

Nearlyalmost50 · 29/07/2019 22:24

I like Remony and it doesn't sound like Remoaner to me at all, I think it rhymes with Lemony! So Remoni.

I wouldn't worry about the Brexit connection, it's rather tenuous and won't be relevant by the time little Remony grows up.

SummerSeasoning · 29/07/2019 22:20

I can imagine twin Remony and Brexi.

I like Ramona and Romy.

Littlejets · 29/07/2019 22:15

Please don't hate me for pointing this out but you may like to know that Remy is also a shortened meaning for remedial (although spelt 'reme').

Josiefuzz · 29/07/2019 21:59

@missdumbledore how about Romy? Quite rare but lovely and feminine x

VivienneHolt · 29/07/2019 21:41

It reminds me of the name of the vampire baby in twilight.

Poetryinaction · 29/07/2019 20:31

Like lemony but not.

NoHummus · 29/07/2019 19:51

I like it!

missdumbledore · 29/07/2019 19:50

I agree. The spelling altered to Remeny is very pretty thank you!!! Little Remeny in Remy

Never heard of it, I quite like it but would risk lots of mishearings and misspellings.

Romilly
Melody
Remy
Bryony
Bethany

WhentheRabbitsWentWild · 29/07/2019 18:32

Quite like it . Never come across that one.

NameChange92 · 29/07/2019 18:26

I think it’s lovely when pronounced to rhyme with remedy, but that’s not how i’d have automatically pronounced it based on the spelling. I too thought it was more like re-moany which is horrible, and I think that’s a problem you’d encounter a lot.

I’d go for a different spelling of it Remini is better if as a pp suggests that an accepted spelling of it, or if that’s also a made up sp. work with the remedy link and spell it, Remeny, more people then are likely to pronounce it the way you want

missdumbledore · 29/07/2019 18:18

Thanks for everyone's comments positive and negative! Maybe Remy as an alternative x

I agree ! It's a shame really. I still really like the name Remony. But everyone's Brexit comments scared me off it haha. If one came across a child named Remony (re-mu-nee/re-mon-ee) would they really think of Brexit remain??

OP posts:
YukoandHiro · 29/07/2019 18:09

But the PPs have a point. Bloody Brexit is ruining everything

YukoandHiro · 29/07/2019 18:07

I like it. I knew a Remony through work a few years ago and thought it really unusual and lovely

missdumbledore · 29/07/2019 18:05

Aww yes that's also lovely:)

Remony snickett

It's a no from me

Bouncingbelle · 29/07/2019 16:41

I quite like it but if some one named their child this right now, i would think they were Remainers & making a point!

Clownfish123 · 29/07/2019 16:15

I know someone with a Remini, pronounced the same I think? Rhymes with Remedy. I think it's lovely, can shorten to Remy.

Frith2013 · 29/07/2019 13:51

Sounds like someone has started complaining again.

Re-moany.

Antonin · 29/07/2019 12:32

Isn’t it Ramona rather than Remona?
How about Romilly
Or Romy ?
