My top 3
Cosmo
Rex
Magnus

All fairly normal names I think, too posh In Dh's opinion. If I like these what else would I like?

He's also vetoed Conrad, his favourite name is Thomas.

I'd love to find an old old English name lole ethelred (but not that!)

First one is Iñigo bask name. Hard to pronounce.

We just say Inigo, as in Inigo Jones.
Did you mean Basque?

First one is Iñigo bask name. Hard to pronounce.
Paco is short for Francisco.
It's like Lola short for Dolores.

Sorry - one "then" would have been enough.

LaMarschallin · 28/07/2019 11:04

No Jilly Cooper readers here then with memories of little Cosmo with his evil rolling eyes, bursting out of his sailor suit like Tom Kitten then?

Oh and I forgot Casper. That seems to be loved by those who love stereotypically posh names, but feels a bit more quirky & like a kid could pull it off anywhere? Or Caspian.

LatteLove · 28/07/2019 10:27

I love Orlando

AverageMummy · 28/07/2019 10:25

Magnus is cringeworthy posh to me - similar vibe to Augustus & sounds like the surname should be Rees-Mogg. I am just one person though & I know posh names are loved on mumsnet

I don’t think Cosmo and Rex have the same feel at all - far more palatable.

Posho names that might work for both of you:
Benedict (love Ben & Ned)
Sebastian (posh but in a cool way to my ears)
Laurence (I love Laurie)
Barnaby (posh but adorable)
Lysander (more quirky than posh?)

Oswin's a good one. Oz for short is good (i actually know an adult one but not shirt for oswin and always thought that was cool)

I also love Hamish as both DH and I have Scottish roots. My maiden name is Mcsomething but it doesn't work as a first name like McKinley/McKenzie etc so I quite like Mac as a way to keep my side going!

My DS is Thomas, my best friends dog is called Cosmo. I’m obviously biased but I still love the name Thomas. Doesn’t sound try hard, or sound like a pet. May be a bit boring for some but a good strong name imo
