I have a little girl called Clara & I seem to be drawn to ‘simple’ names (not deliberately so there might be a long name I’d love). It’s been quite hard to find another name we agree on. Not particularly bothered by popularity as even the top names are less than a percent of babies - just struggling to find one we both like.

Rose is a contender - what do people think?
Other possibilities are Alice & Sophia.
I also love Charlotte but I think it’s too close to Clara.

For boys: Robin, Peter, Luke & Rowan?

I hadn’t noticed I had such a thing for the letter R until writing this!

Rose is super and is my favourite out of your choices. I like Peter for a boy’s name.

NoSauce · 27/07/2019 08:28

Rose is beautiful and goes perfectly with Clara. Eleanor, Harriet, Lucy would also be nice.

Not keen on the boys names, Luke is very wishy washy and dated to me.

What about James, George, Patrick, Gabriel, Alistair?

WinterRose92 · 27/07/2019 07:58

I love Rose, it’s so lovely. Also really like Sophia.
For a boy I think Rowan is great.

AverageMummy · 27/07/2019 07:56

@HerculesMulligan I love Anna but it’s in use by a close relative. Not a fan of Nina.

I really like your name choices. I think Anna and Nina are other names with a similar feel.

AverageMummy · 26/07/2019 09:35

@lostinthewheatfield I really like Heidi but my husband thinks it would sound stupid with Clara Grin

Defo not a Rose West problem, she was Rosemary

She might well be rosemary but we only know her as rose. Every time I hear the name rose I think of her.

lostinthewheatfield · 26/07/2019 07:34

I think Rose is a great choice with Clara but I like all your other girl names. I also really like Peter. Clara and Peter made me think of Heidi but that just shows how old I am !

Astronica · 26/07/2019 07:05

Rose is quite lovely, and great next to her sister's name. Peter is my favourite of your boy's names.

PrincessLouis · 25/07/2019 23:00

Rose is perfection. I wanted to use it but couldn’t. Defo not a Rose West problem, she was Rosemary. Rose is a rose by any other name, English Rose, Titantic...

Peter is my fave from your boy’s list, I had this on my list too!

I agree with the pp who said don’t use Rowan or Robin if you might use Rose for a DC3.

Tillygetsit · 25/07/2019 22:41

Like a PP I prefer Rosa and love Peter.

Rose is lovely, and while it’s incredibly popular as a middle name it isn’t as a first name. I know loads of girls (Brownie leader) but only known 3 Roses over the years.

Charlotte is gorgeous but I feel it is a bit too close to Clara and I don’t like siblings having the same initial

Alice is also lovely and timeless

For your boys names I like Rowan and Robin

CatteStreet · 25/07/2019 20:58

Much prefer Rosa to Rose.
Also love Sophia.

Love Rowan, think Peter would be an excellent choice (classic and unusual these days) but like it with my head rather than my heart iyswim, not keen on Robin or Luke.

AverageMummy · 25/07/2019 20:54

@veeboo I love Thea but can’t get that one past the hubby. I also love Thalia but again....he’s a right pain Grin

How about Thea? It sounds like you like names which can't be shortened. I also love Rosa or maybe Edie?

Yogagirl123 · 25/07/2019 20:43

I love Rose, really nice classic name. I like Luke also.

redexpat · 25/07/2019 20:41

I didnt make the West connection and Im from Gloucester. Unless your surname is West I think youre fine.

AverageMummy · 25/07/2019 20:35

@Fatkins yes I’m hoping very few would link to West - unlike a name like Myra

@Whoseagooddoggiethen Anna is a beautiful name but used by a relative

userabcname · 25/07/2019 20:33

Rose is lovely. I also like Sophia.
Robin and Peter are great choices for a boy. I really dislike Luke and Alice although I don't know why!

Fatkins · 25/07/2019 20:22

But wait... Peter Sutcliffe! See? Lots of very evil people have perfectly normal names. It's not the first thing most people think of when they hear the name. If it was, then people named Ian would all be forever being associated with evil killers. Huntley AND Brady. See?

Fatkins · 25/07/2019 20:19

I love Robin and Peter from your boy list.

Fatkins · 25/07/2019 20:18

I like Rose. I wouldn't think of West. I think she was Rosemary anyway.

Of the three names you've mentioned I like Sophia the best. How about Sophie?
