Is Arlo really popular?

How many male Arlos do you know, and what part of the country are you in? I have previously thought this was a bit of a try hard name, but it's growing on me!

I always think of “the good dinosaur” film, totally cute film. But that is immediately what springs to mind. I also know one, he’s 3

Prettylittlelady · 30/07/2019 22:49

Not meaning to offend but this is an awful name, maybe not so much of an issue if you’re not in the south but it sounds so much like the town Harlow as the h sound is often dropped when spoken about in a London or Essex accent.....

nothingtowearever · 30/07/2019 22:00

I know about 3. Last one was born last week . I also know a dog called Arlo which is a shame as now I just think of it as a dogs name!

LarkDescending · 30/07/2019 20:35

3 toddlers, 1 cat, 1 puppy. North London.

Bubblysqueak · 30/07/2019 17:59

South west and I know 3.

MummyMcCracken · 30/07/2019 17:15

Never met one; not one at my sons nursery either

Pinkout · 30/07/2019 17:14

Never met one, I’m in Yorkshire.

MaudAndOtherPoems · 30/07/2019 05:38

Very popular in this bit of London - the eldest I know are teenagers.

RainbowMum11 · 30/07/2019 01:31

I know 1 baby.

zigzagbetty · 30/07/2019 01:27

North west, my nephew is one, oh and the cat in bing!

RockinHippy · 30/07/2019 01:03

South England I know of 3 from 14yrs downwards
North West I know of 1

I wouldn't say it was that common

ProseccoandPizza · 30/07/2019 00:00

My brother is a Jake Arlo and 29 this year and my son is Alfie Arlo (his father wouldn’t let me have Arlo for a first name) and he’s almost 9. We’ve never come across any other Arlo’s ever and he’s been to multiple primary schools due to moves cross counties. (South Wales btw)

Saharasunset · 29/07/2019 23:57

3 of them- 4.5yo, 2yo and newborn

FairyDust92 · 28/07/2019 21:38

South East - Seems to be popular here

Delatron · 28/07/2019 21:22

I think there’s a lot in London. We moved out of there 8 years ago. I only know one now in my area (S.Bucks) and he’s my 9 year old.

I kind of knew when I named him it was on the up and would become fashionable but I loved the name and didn’t care!

Chocolatedaim · 27/07/2019 23:14

Yes
I’m in NE London. I know of two under three and I hear the name all the time at parks and children centres

Greyhound22 · 27/07/2019 21:46

I don't know any in the Black Country.

Stampyourfeet · 27/07/2019 21:40

East London, every second child is called Arlo

Fatkins · 27/07/2019 21:37

I know one who lives in Belfast, but I am in the home counties.

zafferana · 27/07/2019 21:36

There aren't any at my boys' all-boys school and I've never met one or heard of a DC with that name. I think there are a couple of celebs with Arlos, but that's it!

Wingingitsince2018 · 27/07/2019 21:30

2 babies, 1 dog, all born in 2018 in the South East

chuttypicks · 27/07/2019 21:23

Not sure of it's popularity but I do know that it's a name for a dog, not a person.

PhoebeFriends · 27/07/2019 21:19

One, a one year old in Leeds.

littlebitstressed · 27/07/2019 21:16

Moved to the East of England in February, know of 5 within 30 minutes of my house. My daughter has just finished reception and had 2 in her class. Used to live in South Whales and knew none.

Owlbert · 27/07/2019 19:38

North East-None but keep reading it online. It's a lovely name
