Lovely!

I know three, all adults. One goes by Ros, one by Rose, and the third is always Rosalind.

HeronLanyon · 26/07/2019 23:58

Really lovely name. Also like rosemary and Rosamund.

CruCru · 26/07/2019 23:51

I love Rosalind and considered it for my daughter but it sounded awful with our surname.

Rachelover40 · 26/07/2019 23:23

Gosh I'd forgotten about that one.

There was a Rosamund in Downton too, the girls' aunt, sister to the earl. She was nice though.

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 26/07/2019 21:27

Lovely name.
Much nicer IMO than Rosamund, but then I connect that with the awful self centred woman in Middlemarch,

Rachelover40 · 24/07/2019 21:50

Oh yes, Rosamund is a completely different name but the poster above me mentioned it and I did a bit of research - which was obviously useless Smile.

Missingthesea · 24/07/2019 17:41

Rosalind is a gorgeous name Smile

HeadintheiClouds · 24/07/2019 17:37

I’d prefer Ros if it’s to be shortened.

StroppyWoman · 24/07/2019 17:36

Absolutely beautiful

shiveringtimber · 24/07/2019 17:36

A good friend is called Rosalind and she's called Lindy for short. But I love the name.

Sooverthemill · 24/07/2019 17:31

rachelover40 that's a completely different name!

Rachelover40 · 24/07/2019 15:55

Yes, I like that too. You don't hear it much nowadays, there's a piece of music by that name.

From wiki: The name Rosamund (also spelled Rosamond and Rosamunde) is a girls' name and can also be a family name (surname). Originally it combined the Germanic elements hros, meaning horse, and mund, meaning "protection". Later, it was influenced by the Latin phrases rosa munda, meaning "pure rose",[1] and rosa mundi, meaning "rose of the world".[2] "Rosamonda" is the Italian, "Rosamunde" is the German and "Rosemonde" the French form of the name.

Sophronia · 24/07/2019 15:36

I prefer Rosamund

Rachelover40 · 23/07/2019 20:38

I like it very much but prefer 'Rosalyn', it's softer.

lljkk · 23/07/2019 20:38

I like this a lot. Thumbs up.

Sooverthemill · 23/07/2019 20:32

merdebre it it's Rosalind. But occasionally he changes ending of all names to fit a rhyme,

Fifthtimelucky · 23/07/2019 20:12

I like it and I know 2, one late 20s/early 30s, known as Ros. The other one is 18 and is known as Rosie.

Harebel · 23/07/2019 19:55

Sorry don't like it but I know a not very nice one so that colours my judgement.

I just don't like the way the Rosa goes with lind either

daisyboocantoo · 23/07/2019 19:19

Name of a good friend. We all call her Ros. I love it, it's very pretty.

MerdedeBrexit · 23/07/2019 18:28

I've a feeling "As You Like It" likes both Rosalind and Rosaline, depending on the rhyme?

Sooverthemill · 23/07/2019 18:22

littlecabbage as you like it has a Rosalind. An excellent character

littlecabbage · 23/07/2019 18:22

Sorry, just seen upthread that Rosalind is from As You Like It. Was thinking of Romeo and Juliet Blush

Sooverthemill · 23/07/2019 18:22

It's my DDs name and no one has every called her Ros

littlecabbage · 23/07/2019 18:20

I thought the Shakespeare one was Rosaline? Line to rhyme with mine?

Regardless, I like the name Rosalind a lot, and Rosa for short (rather than Roz).

Smellybluecheese · 23/07/2019 18:18

I know a 3 year old Rosalind. I like the Shakespearean connection.
