Me and my boyfriend love it but not sure how other people will feel about it. Also considering the nicknames either Lettie or Lottie.

Also do you think it sounds nice with Eva as that will be her big sister.

Thank youSmile

I love it

MyHeartIsBrokeButIHaveSomeGlue · 22/07/2019 22:20

I have a Violet (so obviously love the name) and no one has ever called her Vi thankfully! Or Lettie, although that's quite nice. Her nickname is just V.

DramaAlpaca · 22/07/2019 19:13

I like it, as long as it's pronounced with three syllables. To me it's not in the least bit frilly. I like Lettie as a diminutive.

midsomermurderess · 22/07/2019 19:10

I don't like it. But I am out the end of frilly, girly names and to me Violet is very much one of those.

Skyejuly · 22/07/2019 18:18

I love it. I have a Violet.

She gets called Vi never lottie I dont like that.

Ohyesiam · 22/07/2019 18:15

I love it.
It has become more popular in the last 15 years, but my OH works in a massive comprehensive and there’s only one there.
I love that it’s a flower name but it still feels strong and energetic. I think I may be influenced by the DD in The Incredibles, but I did love it before I saw that!

Stravapalava · 22/07/2019 18:14

I'm not a fan because my associations are:

1 - Violent / violate
2 - parma violets
3 - "you're turning violet, Violet!"

ChihuahuaMummy1 · 22/07/2019 18:09

I prefer viola if any

JC4PMPLZ · 22/07/2019 18:06

I love it and the nicknames are fab too.

mimibunz · 22/07/2019 18:00

I love Violet but hate Lottie as a nn. I know it’s much loved on MN but I find it twee.

EnglishBreakfastPlease · 22/07/2019 17:59

I love it

Jessi88 · 22/07/2019 17:57

Love it! It’s my little girl’s name. We call her Letty or Vi.

Purplecatshopaholic · 22/07/2019 15:01

Lovely name. But she will be known as Vi for sure so if it’s ok go for it

blackcat86 · 22/07/2019 15:00

I love violet. I'm considering it if we ever have another girl.

Frith2013 · 22/07/2019 14:58

Violet is fine. I also like Viola.

daisypond · 22/07/2019 14:15

I’m not keen personally. It’s an invasive weed and gets trodden on underfoot. It also reminds me of violent.

gracepoolesrum · 22/07/2019 14:15

I love it, it's getting popular if this is something that bothers you.

TatianaLarina · 22/07/2019 14:10

I know a Lettie and a Viva (Veeva) as a shortening.

Astronica · 22/07/2019 13:44

I really like it, and sounds just right for Eva's sister.

Pinktinker · 22/07/2019 13:43

Growing up I knew one Violet, one of my Grandma’s best friends Grin. I never considered it a particularly nice name, just an old lady name. Now it’s becoming more common and I’ve met little Violet’s it’s grown on me.

user1493494961 · 22/07/2019 09:20

Nice name and Letty works as a shortening.

NotAgainKen · 22/07/2019 08:52

I like it a lot. The Violet I know shortens it to Vivi.

Lavenderblues · 22/07/2019 08:37

I also struggle to say Vi o let, it comes out as vile-let. Not a pretty sound at all.

NeverSayFreelance · 22/07/2019 08:29

Love the name Violet. Really don't like Lettie. Lottie is okay. But I would go with Vi if anything.

4under4our · 22/07/2019 08:27

Really lovely.
