What are your thoughts on the name Kirsty?

I like it, and would like to see it used for a little one. As others have said it does ring of the 80's, but not in a bad way.

Bristolgal · 22/07/2019 04:51

I really like it! Very pretty! It has the advantage of being known by everyone but not often used. I love all the 80s names though! Ha ha!

Apolloanddaphne · 21/07/2019 22:22

I am Scottish and I love the name Kirsty along with Kirsten. I know lovely young women with both these names.

Jayneisagirlsname · 21/07/2019 22:02

I'm one! I'm quite nice. I'm okay with my name though some people shorten it to Kirst, which sounds too much like Cursed to me!

RoseMartha · 21/07/2019 21:57

I like it a lot

Pixilicious · 21/07/2019 21:45

both lovely

Pixilicious · 21/07/2019 21:44

I know 2 Kirstys and they are bothering lovely so to me it’s a lovely name.

youspoileverythingforme · 21/07/2019 21:40

I like it, it was quite unusual even in its hey day and due a revival I think. Strong but feminine.

AJPTaylor · 21/07/2019 21:38

I have a primary school daughter Kirsty.
It's the perfect combination of a name that everyone knows but no one her age is called it.

BalletTapNModern · 21/07/2019 21:37

Scottish, 80s.

Makes me think of Kirsty McColl.

aibutohavethisusername · 21/07/2019 21:36

I love the name. It is the top name on the soon to be extinct list so it would be good if it could have a revival.

sleepyhead · 21/07/2019 21:32

It's one of my favourite girls names.

Bossbabynx5 · 21/07/2019 21:27

I like it! Known two kirsty one is like 38 ish now and one is about 18 but I think it is a little bit dated sorry but it is nice so go for it! I also like kristi/kristy kristen and kirsten even tho I do think Kirsten is abit Irish sounding mind but they are more modern sounding options

Sophronia · 21/07/2019 21:26

It does feel a bit 80s.

Cazastrophe · 21/07/2019 21:18

It’s a bit too 80s and all the Kirsty’s I’ve known have either been chavs or nasty. It’s a bit of a bitch kind of name!

Fantababy · 21/07/2019 20:22

I think it's Gaelic for Christine, but I could be wrong. Spelt differently though.

NannyR · 21/07/2019 20:00

I love kirsty/kirstie and Kirsten as well.

Pemba · 21/07/2019 20:00

I quite like Kirsty. Traditionally it was the Scottish short form for Christina, apparently. I like that too.

Pemba · 21/07/2019 19:58

So Kirstie Allsopp is being compared to Adolf Hitler. Not a huge fan myself but really? I assume that's a joke?

Personally I think of Kirsty McColl, the legend that she was.

Muddlingalongalone · 21/07/2019 19:57

I love it! Not sure what the negative connotations like Adolf are???

dementedma · 21/07/2019 19:55

Very popular here in Scotland. Know several. Equating Kirsty Allsopp to Hitler is unbelievable.

QuestionableMouse · 21/07/2019 19:55

What's the negative association that's as bad as Hitler?

I like it. We have a Kirsty at work and she is the kindest and funniest person I've ever met. (and no, I'm not her!)

CrumbsCrumbsEverywhere · 21/07/2019 19:55

Smashing your kids screens is bad, but I dont think it makes one as bad as Hitler, despite what ive said above !

EdWinchester · 21/07/2019 19:55

It's a bit Sharon or Cheryl to me.
