Margaret, Morag or Jean?

Margaret would get shorted to Margot, Greta or Peggy, depending on which best suited her.

Morag would just be Morag. (Though DD1 has suggested she might call her Morag the Toerag)

Jean might become Jeannie.

Give me your thoughts, please!

I don’t know where Nell came from, when you mentioned Peggy.

Peggy is absolutely awful. Like a lame sheep.

Jean is my mum (and loads of my friend’s mums) so I can’t take it seriously as a baby name!

Morag is fine.

Margaret is a bit twee. I can’t stand Margot (which seems to be in half of these threads) but Nell would be ok.

Margot the Escargot.

This may be outing but I have a Jean, nn Jeanie.

I love the name, to me it sounds strong, but feminine. There aren’t going to be loads of Jean’s and it was my granny’s name, who was a straight talking Geordie. She was so gentle but equally you wouldn’t dare to cross her 🥰

Love Morag (Katie Morag!) and Margaret, which is very versatile and strong.

Jean. Hmm. I actually think it's starting to sound fresh & modern. I'm really liking Jean Charlotte.

Margaret Charlotte doesn't work, too many 't' sounds.

I'd go for Jean. Maggie is sweet for Margaret and I know a couple but I really don't like Morag, sorry. It's so harsh sounding and I can't take to it (I shudder every time I hear the song to Katie Morag)

Oh if it helps, middle name will almost certainly be Charlotte
