Same name

There is a mum in my local nursery with a baby same age and name as my son. Potentially they will go to the same schools so forever more will be known as name and initial to differentiate them. It’s annoyed me so much :( neither of us copied each other just unfortunate coincidence. Am I making a fuss about nothing? It really is upsetting me. Can people let me know what they think to give some perspective. Am I right to feel like this or am I being stupid maybe. Thanks

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Do you mean same first name and surname? I once had that with one of mine. I only realised when the doctor’s kept muddling up the children. Same first name - and quite unusual one then - and surname, on the same - very long- street. Born in the same year but not the same month.

There is a mum in my local nursery with a baby same age and name as my son.

Assume that you mean your daughter not your son 😳

2 boys named Jessica would certainly be unusual to say the least !!

RowdyYates · 17/07/2019 07:31

Your son is called Jessica?

AnonymousP · 17/07/2019 07:12

I think you’re definitely making a fuss about nothing (not to the other mum’s face, I hope!)

If you were really sure you wanted your daughter to be the only one in school, you should have called her Xanthippe or Zenobia or something. Jessica has been in the Top 10 for England and Wales since records began, except for 2017 when it was #15. Sorry, but you should have expected to meet lots of others of a similar age Confused

Meh. Jessica is still a popular name, there are heaps of double / triple names in school.

Also they could move away, go private etc.

I went to school with two girls with the same first name and last name, it fine. Both were called Katherine, but one known as Katie.

We later all flatted together, felt sorry for the landlord!

Fuss about nothing.

Paige26x · 17/07/2019 00:29

I had a girl in my year same age same name and my mums surname but wasn’t mine legally only on register, people got us confused from time to time & it was abit odd but it’s just a name

Paige26x · 17/07/2019 00:28

A name is a name? Your child’s name is obviously well liked 😂 no need to get annoyed over a name not like she copied you on purpose is it, just use a nick name for her?

scorpiosister · 17/07/2019 00:25

Start calling her Jessie or Jess or Sisi if it bothers you that much , that's what I'd do. My lo had the same and it did bug me a bit but they ended up going to different primary schools

Green1340 · 17/07/2019 00:23

The name is Jessica so a common name but not very popular in our village anymore so I thought it was a good choice until the other one. I just mean making a fuss to myself for getting annoyed about it in the first place. It’s likely they will end up in same school as we live in a small village.

Well I cn see it might be annoying for the kids bit are yo u even sure they're likely to end up in the same school?

Also how popular is the name?

It's fairly pointless getting upset and annoyed, what do you mean by making a fussed?

Do either of you use a nickname?
