Middle name for Isla...Skye?

Hi All,

I am due my first baby, a girl, early September. OH and I have chosen Isla as a first name but are struggling for a middle name. He loves Isla Skye but I’m not so sure. I’m Scottish so it sounds to me like Isle of Sky being said in slang! So I’m looking for thoughts on Isla Skye and any other middle name suggestions.

Thank you in advance!

Isla May = Isle of May in the Firth of Forth.

Please don't go for the horrendously overused May / Rose / Grace as a middle name.

Push the boat out. Go for something unusual, strong and distinctive.

Isla Rebecca
Isla Adelaide
Isla Bronwyn
isla Emmeline

and so on.

Isla Grace sounds like a religious commune.

BlueMerchant · 15/07/2019 17:52

Isla without a mn?
Often think pure, simple names sound much better without.
I do love Grace but I don't think it 'needs' it.

Spaghettio · 15/07/2019 17:51

I know an Isla Rose 🌹

WifOfBif · 15/07/2019 17:48

I am the proud owner of an Isla Jean.

CloserIAm2Fine · 15/07/2019 17:47

Not Isla Skye!

Isla Grace
Isla Francesca
Isla Chloe
Isla Amelia

At least I have 1.5 months to convince him.

Yeah, I thought that. She was born early and he gave her the name I didn’t want whilst I was still unconscious under GA.😆

Apolloanddaphne · 15/07/2019 17:15

Isla May is just as bad! I would think you were off to look at the puffins.

Youngandfree · 15/07/2019 17:09

Isla Elizabeth
Isla Marie
Isla Louise
Isla May
Isla Rose

Poor (deluded) guy thinks it’s lovely...as do his mum and sister which isn’t helping matters!

Convince him? Just say no absolutely not!

Shadow1234 · 15/07/2019 17:07
  • both lovely names as well
Shadow1234 · 15/07/2019 17:06

Isle of Sky was also my first thought tbh.
what a shame - both lovely namess well

Adele12345 · 15/07/2019 17:06

You all have said exactly what I have been...it just sounds ridiculous! At least I have 1.5 months to convince him.

Grace is nice. Any other suggestions? My mind is blank and I can’t see past Isla Skye (not in a good way!)

I know a child called Isla White.

Apolloanddaphne · 15/07/2019 16:51

Although that would make her I-own-a Skye which isn't much better!

Vesperia · 15/07/2019 16:51

Isla Skye lol how about Isla Shetland as an alternative

Apolloanddaphne · 15/07/2019 16:50

I laughed at the notion just reading the thread title. You can't call her that. What about Iona rather than Isla?

Lauraloop1516 · 15/07/2019 16:48

As a Scottish person, I absolutely agree with you. Isla Skye is cringe worthy.

fuckingtwats · 15/07/2019 16:45

Hilarious Hmm

ClaudiaWankleman · 15/07/2019 16:44

I imagine people will think she was conceived there!

Blue5238 · 15/07/2019 16:43

You can't use Isla Skye!! Either one or the other but it totally sounds like Isle of skye

DickZillaofTheVilla · 15/07/2019 16:43

Isle of Skye Grin don’t do that

Plainandsimple · 15/07/2019 16:42

If your surname is Ferry you have to go with ‘White’ 😁

NC4Now · 15/07/2019 16:42

Yeah, I’d say Isla or Skye, not both 😆
