negatively impact the poor child's entire life

My child has an original name

Hasn’t had a negative impact yet

Owlchemist · 15/07/2019 11:24

I love Balthazar. I would use Zar as nickname rather than Balt (?)

MumdayMania · 15/07/2019 11:20

I like Thaddeus but Balthazar not so much.

How about Thaddeus and Malachi?

Grufallosfriends · 15/07/2019 11:14

People need to realise this "cute" and "original" name is going to negatively impact the poor child's entire life

In what way will it negatively impact his life?

WhatNowDear · 15/07/2019 10:50

Seriously this is beyond reasonable and borders on abuse imo. People need to realise this "cute" and "original" name is going to negatively impact the poor child's entire life. Get over yourselves.

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 15/07/2019 10:17

Only on mumsnet would people rave about those names

IsobelRae23 · 15/07/2019 10:15

🤦‍♀️

Grufallosfriends · 15/07/2019 08:17

I like them both, especially Thaddeus! Both are classic strong names.

vampirethriller · 15/07/2019 06:38

Balthazar was one of the three wise men wasn't he? I quite like it. Thaddeus not so much.

buttyblahblah · 14/07/2019 23:01

@SleepingStandingUp I had found myself thinking that Lucifer was a lovely name. The only possible problem was that it was shortened to Lucy, not great for a boy.

NeverSayFreelance · 14/07/2019 22:52

No Charmed or Buffy fans here? I could never take the name Balthazar seriously Blush

SleepingStandingUp · 14/07/2019 22:51

@BedraggledBlitz that only makes me like them more lol

SleepingStandingUp · 14/07/2019 22:50

@ReganSomerset if you ignore the origins, it's a really nice name 😊. If I was having mismatched twins I could have Lucifer and Lillith. Of course you could never actually use Lucifer. I like Lucien tho

MrsLem · 14/07/2019 22:49

Love the names! I have a Barnaby who we call Barney Smile

BedraggledBlitz · 14/07/2019 22:48

No. Sound like Thor's sidekicks.

ReganSomerset · 14/07/2019 22:46

Lucifer?

Pleasebeafleabite · 14/07/2019 22:45

Balthazar would make me think you were Satanists or something

“We felt that Beelzebub was a tad common so opted for Balthazar instead. You must excuse me now I’m afraid I have a cockerel to sacrifice before baby signing”

Bananallama858 · 14/07/2019 22:41

What the Shock

Time40 · 14/07/2019 22:39

I like Thaddeus very much, but Balthazar would make me think you were Satanists or something. Balthazar sounds a bit bonkers ... sorry.

DickZillaofTheVilla · 14/07/2019 22:38

@FogCutter they really really do! Grin

SleepingStandingUp · 14/07/2019 22:34

@Mummyshark2018 aahyes that would sound much worse

OP posts:
Mummyshark2018 · 14/07/2019 22:31

@SleepingStandingUp
Thank you! I would have have said Balt-hazar which sounds weird and like 'walt'- a slang word for something rude!

sloaneBear · 14/07/2019 22:31

Actually there is also a woman who posts on here sometimes, who has a following on Instagram and her twins boys are Balthazar and Lysander.

So it turns out I know of two Balthazar’s under school age!

sloaneBear · 14/07/2019 22:29

I know a little Balthazar! His brother is Cassius. I love Balthazar.

Thaddeus sounds ugly to my ear. The actual sound isn’t a nice one.

SleepingStandingUp · 14/07/2019 22:29

@FunnysInLaJardin love your names. DH said no.
