Welsh girls names that work in England

My partner and I are both (North) Welsh but living in England, I’m pregnant with twin girls and so far have been pretty useless in thinking of names...

We’re looking for names that are easy to pronounce by non Welsh speakers and also don’t look like we’ve spelt it wrong just to be ‘interesting’!

I’m not a fan of names like Seren or Enfys.

I don’t really mind names that are seen as a bit dated (but on the other hand lots of names that were common in my generation are names of people I was in school with and didn’t get on with!)

Help!!

I like Rhiannon but not Rhian for various stupid reasons! Went to school with a very horrible Ffion.

Sorry - cross post!

Angharad?

sallysparrow157 · 11/07/2019 17:28

Have an Angharad and a Nia as close family so they’re out although I like both! Seren may well be a nice name but just isn’t to my taste. I really like Alys but in England will it just look like I can’t spell Alice?! The others mentioned are nice but not perfect!

Sorry! I’m a fussy bugger!!

I like the name Angharad and had an Angharad at school and no-one had a problem pronouncing it.

Seren is a lovely name

Bacciferous, I like Manon (and all the Manons I’ve known have been lovely) but worry that outside Wales the French Manon is more well known
