We are struggling with names (hence a million posts!) Looking for honest uncensored views!

What do you think of Dulcie?

And for a boy - Robin?

I really don’t like Dulcie, I just don’t like the way it looks and sounds.

I do like Robin though.

Fatkins · 08/07/2019 21:29

lilpumpsmum

Daphne is nice and classy??

I did say nicER and classiER. Which it is. Dulcie, to me, is the opposite of those things, so it wouldn't be too difficult Grin. Personal taste and all that though. I've met Dulcies before and never really batted an eyelid.

Redcliff · 08/07/2019 21:29

I really like the name Dulcie - I used to work with one and she was lovely (and super cool) so that might be influencing me a little.

ChaChaDeGregorio · 08/07/2019 21:26

Both twee

Carpetburns · 08/07/2019 21:25

Robin nice. Dulchie truly awful.

lilpumpsmum · 08/07/2019 21:20

Daphne is nice and classy?? Grin

Haha, crazy how everyone's tastes are so different

Fatkins · 08/07/2019 21:14

I don't like it, but Dulcie is definitely a name.

Op, another suggestion with a similar sound, but a much nicer / classier vibe to it imo; Daphne?

Expressedways · 08/07/2019 19:22

I don’t like Dulcie at all. I think firstly of the war poem Dulce et Decorum est and secondly of the Cinnamon Dolce latte at Starbucks. Both wildly different things but neither one a good association for a baby!

Robin is very cute for a boy.

Wellmet · 08/07/2019 19:22

Is Dulcie a name? Where do you live? I've taught thousands of children in the UK and never ever come across it!

sneakypinky · 08/07/2019 19:18

I like Robin. Dulcie is hideous though.

DramaAlpaca · 08/07/2019 19:10

I'm really sorry, but I think Dulcie is truly awful & Robin is rather wet.

Zoobluebabypink · 08/07/2019 18:10

I think it’s horrible sorry
Dulcie is really clunky to me and sounds really faddy. Makes me think of one of those little girls in America who does Toddlers and Tiaras or something of the like.
Also nn would end up being ‘dull’
Robyn- don’t like that either

babysharkah · 08/07/2019 17:35

Depends where you are and how you pronounce Dulcie. Dull-see or Dul-chee?

Shadow1234 · 08/07/2019 17:10

I am obviously in the minority here, but I love the name Dulcie.

Not so keen on Robin for a boy (prefer it for a girl spelt Robyn)

Fundays12 · 08/07/2019 17:04

Dulcie is awful sorry and Robin is not great either.

Icklepup · 08/07/2019 17:02

Love Robin

kittytiggy · 08/07/2019 17:00

Is Dulcie pronounced dull-chee or dull-see?

AverageMummy · 08/07/2019 16:22

Thank you all - very eye opening Grin

funmummy48 · 08/07/2019 16:19

Love Robin but think Dulcie is awful. It's the "dull" bit at the beginning.

Oh Molly, you've just put me off it even more!

Drunk with fatigue they trudged through sludge.

MollyHuaCha · 08/07/2019 16:13

Dulce et decorum est pro patria mori.

ChristineBaskets · 08/07/2019 16:11

I don't think Dulcie has an unpleasant sound at all. It reminds me of 'dulce de leche' and has the same root meaning sweet.

MikeUniformMike · 08/07/2019 16:11

I don't like Dulcie at all. Don't like the look of it or the sound of it and it will get shortened to Dull.
Robin is great.

Ihatemyseleffordoingthis · 08/07/2019 16:10

Robin for boy or girl! (or Robyn)
