Thoughts?! I can’t decide whether it’s cute or awful! Not Stephanie btw, just Stevie

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
ineedtostopbeingsolazy · 07/07/2019 17:56

I don't like it it does sound a bit chavvy. Evie is nicer.
Billie is better than Stevie

LollyBmummyof3 · 07/07/2019 17:53

No👎🏻

LucyFox · 07/07/2019 17:53

Stephanie nn Stevie - yes
Stevie on its own, no

Sorry, I hate this trend of nicknames as full names

OralBElectricToothbrush · 07/07/2019 17:53

No. Stevie Nicks is Stephanie, her younger sister had trouble saying that. Bit like Minnie Driver is really Amelia but her younger sister called her Minnie as she couldn't pronounce her name and it stuck.

MikeUniformMike · 07/07/2019 17:50

I know 2. Neither are Stephanie.

stillmoving · 07/07/2019 17:47

I think it's quite 70's

Strokethefurrywall · 07/07/2019 17:46

I loved Stéphanie with Stevie as a nn, I always remember in knight rider, Michael Knight had a girlfriend called Stevie and I thought she was fabulous!

autumnkate · 07/07/2019 17:32

100% love

AverageMummy · 07/07/2019 17:18

Don’t like it at all sorry but I’m just a random stranger on the internet !

anothernotherone · 07/07/2019 16:20

SheSaidNoFuckThat I fancied a sofa doze though Blush no chance...

kittytiggy · 07/07/2019 16:18

For me it just gives the image of a middle aged pervert, sorry OP. Blush Before anyone comes for me, of course I'm making a huge generalisation.

In all seriousness though I don't find it chavvy at all, just a bit too masculine (although I wouldn't use it for a boy either) and a cat's name imo. Not to my taste at all.

However, my opinion doesn't matter at all. If you love it, go with your heart. Smile

SheSaidNoFuckThat · 07/07/2019 16:15

@anothernotherone I wouldn't knock it, enjoy it while you can

Littleheart5 · 07/07/2019 16:06

I’m open to all opinions, genuinely! I’m easy going and not terribly attached to it at this stage, so wanted to put it out to the crowd :)
Thanks for the opinions all

diddlediddle stick ie in the end to make it a cutsie nickname and lots of people will like any boy's name for a girl and the woman she'll grow up to be.

I suppose it's just a new twist on feminine forms of names ending in an a where male forms of the same name end in a consonant.

FamilyOfAliens · 07/07/2019 16:04

I like it as a nickname. As a full name I agree she won’t be able to do much with it if she goes off it.

It does also sound slightly pretentious (sorry, OP, but you did ask).

anothernotherone · 07/07/2019 16:01

SheSaidNoFuckThat we have a reasonably sized house but somehow everyone is always in the same room, plus one or two neighbor kids. I think maybe they haven't read the "How teenagers behave" manual...

diddlediddle · 07/07/2019 16:00

I really don't know why people are fine with Stevie for a girl and not James or Rory... (other recent threads). Seems to be down to familiarity with knowing of a girl called the name, but obviously that depends on people using it... I like it, but then again, I like unisex names!

thecompanyplonker · 07/07/2019 16:00

Love it

MissBridgetJones · 07/07/2019 15:56

Love it! Not chav at all. Where I grew up Billie (for a boy or girl) was seriously chav

SheSaidNoFuckThat · 07/07/2019 15:52

@anothernotherone wish mine were more sociable, only see them when they want feeding!

dessertequila · 07/07/2019 15:48

@BertrandRussell what?

anothernotherone · 07/07/2019 15:44

SheSaidNoFuckThat sorry, she was called Stephanie... I guess she still is technically, probably. But you're right of course, poor use of tenses, not concentrating properly. Why do all the kids hang out wittering in the living room? I thought teens were meant to antisocial but there are 4 in here with me and they aren't even all mine...

BertrandRussell · 07/07/2019 15:43

“It's not an obvious unisex name like Riley or Bayley ”
Eh?

SheSaidNoFuckThat · 07/07/2019 15:37

@anothernotherone Stevie Nicks IS not was, she's very much alive and kicking you know

Dinosaursdontgrowontrees · 07/07/2019 15:34

I like it.
She could use Evie or Eve as nicknames if she doesn’t like it when she’s older..
