I really don't think you can call a DS either Olive or Olivia, just because they sound a bit like the boys name OP is considering.

If she wanted to anglicise it, and put a long form to it, then surely it should be Oliver.

Sounds like ovaries and ovia (the app). Or ovo / huevo / uovo (egg) in Portuguese, Spanish and Italian respectively. It’s a no from me!

Ovie on Love Island is a 6ft 7 muscly hunk. I really don't think Olive would work as a substitute!
