Hi, what do you think about Lucy for a girl?
Too boring? Common? Chavvy? 😬🤔🙊
Also, would you go with Lucy or Elizabeth?
And lastly, what cool middle name would you pick for them?
Thank you so much!!

My colleague is actually a Lucy with middle name Elizabeth and loves it, go with both :)

MilkItTilITurnItIntoCheese · 04/07/2019 18:32

We have a Lucy Victoria! I love it still and she’s a teenager now. I work in childcare. We have just one Lucy and another joining us soon. It’s popular but not common I’d say. Definitely not chavvy imo

coco123456789 · 04/07/2019 18:25

I think it’s lovely, not chavvy at all. Would only be chavvy if it was spelt Looci or something!

If you like the name Love, why not Loveday? Such an underused name.

NameChange30 · 04/07/2019 18:20

Lucy India - love it, cool name and it has meaning too
Lucy Elizabeth - fine but a bit boring to have two very classic names
Lucy Love - God no! Was that a typo?
Lucy Alice - fine but a bit boring
Lucy Alma - second choice after India

carmenbea · 04/07/2019 18:15

Definitely not chavy! But I do find it a bit wet and boring to be honest that's just my opinion

violeticecream · 04/07/2019 18:05

I have a teenage Lucy. Lovely name Smile

BlueMerchant · 04/07/2019 17:58

Lucy Luna for something a bit different.

FizzBuzzBangWoof · 04/07/2019 17:56

I really like both Lucy & Elizabeth

They are both timeless classics IMO

Definitely not chavvy!

darkriver19886 · 04/07/2019 17:55

I love Lucy. ❤ hence the reason I gave my eldest that name. It's a nice normalll name .

Avocado0nToast · 04/07/2019 17:52

One of your suggestions is my daughters exact name 😂 - good taste!

Zoflorabore · 04/07/2019 17:44

I have an 8yr old Lucy. It was my girls name since I was a little girl, always loved it.

Mine is called Lucy Albertine.

Lironlavie1 · 04/07/2019 17:41

Thank you so much everyone that’s really helps!
Now I’m thinking middle names... (last name is Harpin..)
Lucy India (- her dad and I meet there)
Lucy Elizabeth
Lucy Love
Lucy Alice
Lucy Alma
Which one do you think will go best?
I like the idea of something a bit more cool for second name...
thanks a lot!!

Not common or ”chavvy” but to me a bit drippy.
Elizabeth is great, with the best nicknames/ shortenings. I know a very lovely Betsy.

Loyaultemelie · 04/07/2019 16:26

My phone has apparently lost all control of itself when it comes to apostrophes sorry

Loyaultemelie · 04/07/2019 16:25

I know 2 Lucy's and a Lucie all 3 are stroppy princesses. I know two Elizabeth's who are both very kind and would do anything for anyone but this could be entirely random ' '

Kyriesmum1 · 04/07/2019 15:39

Our daughter is called Lucie Karina x

DrDentyst · 04/07/2019 15:35

There's 3 Lucy's in my dd's ballet class. Her class is in a very affluent area (most parents are minted, I'm not.)

I'd go out there with the middle name:-

Lucy Honeysuckle
Lucy Francine
Lucy Raffaella

bridgetreilly · 04/07/2019 15:27

Definitely not chavvy. Fairly popular, but not crazily so. I don't think it will date. Nice name.

MissRainbowBrite · 04/07/2019 15:16

I have a Lucy and love the name. It's not common at all and there's only one other in quite a large first school.

zukiecat · 04/07/2019 15:16

My youngest daughter is Lucy Victoria

I've always thought it a beautiful name

PlugUgly1980 · 04/07/2019 15:13

Great name. I have a 5 year old with Elizabeth as a middle name. She has a school friend called Lucy and I have a neighbour with a 1 year old who's also a Lucy. Jennifer, Elizabeth, Holly, Emily are also lovely strong names.

Awrite · 04/07/2019 15:09

Great name.

Lucy Jane is cool.

Topseyt · 04/07/2019 15:07

I love it, and I have a Lucy.

Lucy Jane, Lucy Jade, Lucy Rebecca, Lucy Alice/Alicia, Lucy Charlotte?

Lironlavie1 · 04/07/2019 14:39

Thank you! That’s really helpful. I actually agree with letting the child “make” the name rather then other way around.
I’m also a big fan of classic strong names....
thanks for all your comments xx

I don't think it's chavvy.... I think it's fairly universal, so no particularly strong associations at all.

It is a bit boring at worst, but I really don't think that's such a bad thing. People aren't boring because they have boring names.

I have an DD with an Elizabeth/Lucy type name (Emma) and she is full of personality. Couldn't get less boring and I really don't think that's my bias speaking!

I think it can be nice NOT to use a really out there name and let the child make it their own.

That said my other DC has a more unusual name, but that is due to my heritage. We loved the name and it's common where I'm from, but less so here.

I prefer Lucy to Elizabeth, but I love some shortenings of Elizabeth, so that's a tough one!
