We don’t know what we’re having but DH has come up with the name Suki and I love it. I quite like Suki Elizabeth. What does everyone think?

Sorry to tell you, but 'suki' is 'bitches' in Rusian. Plural of B**

SushiForAmateurs · 01/07/2019 23:25

Aunt Grace in House at the Corner had a pet parrot called Suki that she dragged around with her visiting family.

That's my association.

It's an OK name - wouldn't make my list.

HeronLanyon · 01/07/2019 23:21

Pet’s not let’s

HeronLanyon · 01/07/2019 23:21

First thought - ‘Suki take it off again’
Second - a let’s name
Third - I like it - kind of
Fourth - for some reason I’d think she was Finnish.

Sounds like a cats name.

Also look at the Scots definitions of souk and soukie (pronounced the same as Suki) if she will ever spend time in Scotland.

Did like Kiki until yesterday when I found out her real name is Pauline!!

Pieceofpurplesky · 01/07/2019 23:04

Love it. I also love Kiko for a girl.

As an aside Cow and Kenneth are awesome cat names

thelonearranger · 01/07/2019 22:47

Fatkins my cats are called Cow and Kenneth, so animal names mean nothing to me😂

I’d be always wanting her to take the kettle off, but then I’m old.

SmiledWithTheRisingSun · 01/07/2019 22:45

Love

Fatkins · 01/07/2019 22:40

I like it. I have never met a pet with the name either! I do know pets called Oscar, Toby, Freya, Ella, Luna, Amber... I could go on!

thelonearranger · 01/07/2019 22:33

I’m not too bothered about the dog/cat connection, but it seems like other than that people are liking it

Peitho · 01/07/2019 22:31

I think Suki is the Japanese and Sukey the English, nn for Susan.

I like it either way.

BelulahBlanca · 01/07/2019 22:30

Really like it paired with Elizabeth

Octonautsoctopod · 01/07/2019 22:28

I really like it!

kazza446 · 01/07/2019 22:28

Sorry, I thought it was a cats name!

elephantmarch · 01/07/2019 22:27

Suki Waterman and the loveable chef from Gilmore girls. I like it. Think it is an abbreviation for Susan/Suzanne

isabellerossignol · 01/07/2019 22:25

It makes me think of the drink Sukie. Which is like a Fruit Shoot.

BaronessBomburst · 01/07/2019 22:25

I thought of a cat.

ranibowsprimkle · 01/07/2019 22:23

That's what I was thinking iklboo but maybe it's just a regional term since no one else has mentioned it ( or I just need to get my mind out the gutter Blush)

DramaAlpaca · 01/07/2019 22:22

Cute on a poodle. Awful on a human.

GiggleMcDimples · 01/07/2019 22:21

I've known of 2 dogs called Suki. I wouldn't be able to get the pet thought out of my head.

Sooooozie · 01/07/2019 22:20

Totally love it.

ArtichokeAardvark · 01/07/2019 22:19

Isn't there a nursery rhyme about Suki? Polly put the kettle on... Suki take it off again, they've all run away.

I'm not a huge fan of the name (it seems a bit wet somehow!) but if you and your husband both love it then you should definitely use it.

TheRLodger · 01/07/2019 22:18

The clumsy but lovable chef / BFF in Gilmore Girls.
I quite like it but wouldn’t pick it for my own
